In 2004, KMB began to introduce the Volvo B9TL, with a total of 964 purchased by Transport International, with Volgren, Alexander Dennis, Wright and Gemilang supplying the bodywork, which became the mainstay of KMB's fleet, replacing the Volvo Super Olympian as the second largest fleet of cars for KMB (after the Enviro500 MMC).

Wright body wraps most B9TL chassis, including:
- 64 AVBWs (3 demonstrators, the rest in two orders: 23+38)
- 290 AVBWU in low capacity version with straight staircases (in three orders: 60+115+115)
- 507 AVBWUs of the high capacity version with straight staircase (in eight orders: 50+58+25+25+25+220+80+24)
- 3 AVBWU of straight staircase
- 1 AVBWS with curved staircase (demonstrator bus)
As for B9TLs with Alexander Dennis bodywork, they include 86 AVBEs (1 demonstrator bus, the rest were split into two orders: 50+35), as well as LWB's 401→710 and 701-709. One B9TL fitted with a Volgren body was a demonstrator bus produced by Volvo in 2003, while three B9TLs with Gemilang bodyworks were buses installed in the depot in 2017.
