Tung Chung Crescent (東堤灣畔) bus stop is a pair of en-route bus stops on eastbound and westbound lanes located outside Tung Chung Crescent Phase 1 and between both ends of Tat Tung Road on Shun Tung Road, Tung Chung Town Centre, Islands District, New Territories.
The westbound stop is the second stopover in the Islands District for most North Lantau External Routes heading towards the airport. These routes detour via Tat Tung Road when heading towards the urban area and do not pass through the eastbound stop., and all routes with stops at the eastbound stop terminate at Tung Chung. Except for Citybus Route S52 series, all routes that turn right to Tat Tung Road when travelling westbound on Shun Tung Road, as well as LWB Route E43 towards North District and NLB routes do not stop at the westbound stop. Passengers can use at the "Tung Chung Station Bus Terminus", the "Tung Chung Cable Car Terminal" on Tat Tung Road, "Fu Tung Plaza", or the "Yu Tung Court" stop on eastbound Shun Tung Road.
Since 22 July 2006, a special announcement was added for this stop on the LWB stop reporter system, reminding passengers that they can walk to the Tung Chung Cable Car Terminal after alighting at this stop (with no text displays); however, most passengers on Ngong Ping 360 cable car will have to wait from the area at Tung Chung Station Bus Terminus near Citygate, and thus LWB has changed to broadcast this special announcement after announcing the stop name "Tung Chung Fire Station" since 29 November 2010.
Except for Citybus Route S52 series, when the Citybus Stop Announcement System announces westbound stop, the screen displays "Tung Chung Crescent, Tung Chung Cable Car Terminal" (
東堤灣畔, 東涌纜車站).
When the Route E21A Stop Announcement System announces eastbound stop, the screen displays "Tung Chung Crescent, Tung Chung Cable Car Terminal, Citygate" ( 東堤灣畔, 東涌纜車站, 東薈城).
Surrounding facilities[]
The bus stop is adjacent to Tung Chung Crescent, Tung Chung Swimming Pool and Tung Chung Cable Car Terminal.
NLB cancelled this stop as early as from 2 November 2013 for Tung Chung Town Centre bound routes, and from 19 November 2014 for Airport bound LWB Route S64, as it is more difficult to cut across to Tat Tung Road after stopping at the westbound stop. Citybus does not have this arrangement, and Route S52 still calls at this stop before turning right to Tat Tung Road northbound when travelling towards the Airport.
However, the pedestrian flow at the westbound stop has always been sparse, and most bus captains would simply skip the stop without any passengers boarding or alighting.
