Tsuen Wan Route No. 86 Public Light Bus Company Limited (荃灣86專線小巴有限公司, abbreviated as 'Tsuen Wan Route No.86) is a Green Minibus operator serving Tsuen Wan Town Centre and North Kwai Chung areas, and is currently operating five New Territories GMB routes. The hotline of the company is 2612 0697.
History[]
"Tsuen Wan Route No.86 Public Light Bus Limited" was incorporated on 10 March 2000, whereas a number of vehicle owners had already formed a partnership with Chit Fai Motors in July 1981 under the name of Chit Fai Motors, together with other vehicle owners, including Li Shui, protested against the encroachment of Route 85 serving on Fu Yung Shan by Pak Pai buses.[1][2][3][4]
The first two green minibus (GMB) routes 85 and 86 in Tsuen Wan District came into service on 17 February in 1980, and have been in operation since then, with the latter becoming the company name and splitting off into 86M and overnight route 86A.
The North Kwai Chung minibus service of the company has been subject to competition from KMB Route 235 since its inception in 1994. Route 83 which commenced service in 1982 and was discontinued in 1998 due to insufficient patronage, while the branch route 83A, which commenced service in 1995, has survived; in early 2014, the Transport Department decided to re-route Route 235 towards On Yam via Kwok Shui Road, which was mooted as a strike on 30 January in protest against the lack of adequate consultation by the Transport Department.[5]
