Tsing Yi Road West (青衣西路) is a road in the western part of Tsing Yi, Kwai Tsing District, New Territories, which connects Fung Shue Wo Road in the north with Tsing Yi Road and Sai Tso Wan Road in the south. It is a two-way south-northbound road with the section south of Cheung Tsing Highway not served by any public transport services.

History[]

Tsing Yi Road West was initially planned as part of Tsing Yi Road and was completed in two phases. The section south of Ching Hong Road was opened to traffic on 15 June 1987, while the section north of Ching Hong Road was completed in 1988 and gazetted on 22 July of the same year.[1]

Road overview[]

Tsing Yi Road West is one of the principal thoroughfares connecting Tsuen Wan and Kwai Chung with Cheung Tsing Highway. During the initial period following Cheung Ching Highway's opening, it served as an essential route, with numerous North Lantau External Routes passing through it, with the demand improved until after the opening of Tsing Yi North Coastal Road in 2002. This road also constitutes the vital access route for Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) vehicles entering and exiting the Tsing Yi Depot.

KMB routes 68E and 279X, Citybus routes E21/E21D and LWB Route E42 utilise Tsing Yi Road West to connect with Cheung Tsing Highway; bus services to and from Cheung Hang or Cheung Wang also require passage via Tsing Yi Road West.
