The Tin Hau Station Public Transport Interchange (天后站公共運輸交匯處, Citybus Location Code TIH)[1] is located on the ground floor of Park Towers, a property above the MTR Tin Hau Station at 1 King's Road, Causeway Bay, Wan Chai District, i.e. Inland Lot No. 8560, and is an indoor parallel-platform bus terminus and green minibus (GMB) terminus.

Citybus currently names this stop as "Tin Hau Station" (天后站), while KMB follows the practice of former China Motor Bus (CMB) and names it as "Causeway Bay (Tin Hau) Bus Terminus" (銅鑼灣(天后)總站). As for Citybus, the electrionic destination sign towards Tin Hau Station will display "Causeway Bay" and "Tin Hau Bravobus Stopreporter MTR Icon" alternately, which is in line with the naming of the stop by both sides.

The resident KMB Regulator is responsible for the operation of the jointly operated Route 914 in addition to the management of the solely operated Route 968, contrary to the general practice that the operation of jointly operated cross-harbour routes at the Hong Kong Island end terminus is managed by another company. Routes 307P and 948 continue to be managed by the Citybus Regulator.

History[]

Park Towers (栢景臺), formerly known as the Causeway Bay Magistracy, is a 10-storey classical building with 19th century colours. Since April 1973, the car park outside the Magistracy has been designated as a bus terminus, named Causeway Bay Magistracy Bus Terminus.

In conjunction with the construction of the Tin Hau Station of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) Island Line and the Lau Sin Street Flyover (later shelved), the car park and the adjacent petrol filling station were demolished to make way for the construction of the bus terminus. The Tin Hau MTR station opened on 31 May 1985 and the Magistracy was not demolished until about 1987. In March 1989, "Park Towers", a property development above Tin Hau Station jointly developed by New World, Hang Lung and the MTR Corporation, was occupied. The bus terminus, then known as the "MTR Tin Hau Station Transport Interchange" (天后地鐵站交通交滙處), was opened on 7 October of the same year. [2]

In 2009, the terminus was refurbished with improved lighting, aluminium wall panels and station name signs. Towards the end of the year, an NWFB Enviro500 11.3m (4001/NW9472) running on Route 25 accidentally entered the green minibus lay-by on the south side of the terminus which has a lower ceiling, resulting in serious damage to the front end of the vehicle on the upper floor. [3][4][5]

The Government introduced the District Councils Ordinance (Amendment of Schedules 1 and 3) Order 2013 into the Legislative Council on 22 October 2013 to transfer the Tin Hau Constituency (C16) and the Victoria Park Constituency (C18) from the Eastern District to the Wan Chai District to give effect to the adjustment of the boundaries of the geographical constituencies of the Eastern and Wan Chai Districts in the Fifth Term District Council [6]. The amendment was passed by the Legislative Council on 22 January 2014 and came into effect when the Fifth Term District Council came into operation in 2016 [7], resulting in the reclassification of this terminus to the Wan Chai District.
