Sheung Shui Station (San Wan Road)

This text is about the bus stop located at San Wan Road, connecting to Sheung Shui Station:

Sheung Shui BBI - Sheung Shui Station (上水轉車站－上水站) bus stop is located on westbound San Wan Road, Sheung Shui, North District, New Territories, next to MTR Sheung Shui Station. It is divided into two parts, namely, the en-route stop for franchised buses and the non-franchised bus stop.

The front end is used by franchised buses and green minibuses. It is located on the San Wan Road between the pedestrian crossing traffic lights outside Exits A3 and D1 of Sheung Shui Station and the entrance to Sheung Shui Bus Terminus. It is a side bay, next to the rear part of Platform 2 of Sheung Shui Station, opposite the Landmark North and Sheung Shui Station Green Minibus Terminus. The station was formerly known as "Sheung Shui Railway Station" (上水鐵路站), Long Win Bus removed the word "Railway" from the original name in late August 2017, followed by KMB.

The rear end stop is opposite Landmark North, that is, under the footbridge (Highway Department Structure No. NF122) between the junction with Chi Cheong Road and Sheung Shui Station Exit B to and from Landmark North, next to the front part of platform No. 2 of Sheung Shui Station. It is a westbound parking bay on San Wan Road. Many residents' bus routes terminate at this stopn, but the starting point of Citybus Route B7X is also located here.

The North District "Area Approach" Bus Route Reorganisation was implemented in August 2013. The stop in front is part of the Sheung Shui BBI, code-named "B". Routes 270A, 270B, 276, 276P, 278X and 678 currently pass through this stop terminate at the Sheung Shui Bus Terminus opposite this stop and this stop is mainly for drop-off for the relevant routes.

In addition, when an MTR incident occurs, the station behind this stop is the designated pick-up and drop-off point for Emergency Shuttle Bus at Sheung Shui Station.

Surrounding facilities[]

The front-end stop is adjacent to Sheung Shui Station Exit D Concourse and Exit A3, Landmark North, and the footbridge connecting Landmark North to Choi Yuen Estate and Shek Pok Wu Estate (Highways Department Structure No. NF295 and NF84. There are stairs and lift entrances in the middle to connect to the ground footpath on Sun Wan Road next to the bus stop), San Fung Avenue, Sheung Shui (San Wan Road) Minibus Terminus, Sheung Shui Bicycle Assembly Center and KMB Sheung Shui Depot.

Passengers traveling to and from front-end stops can use Sheung Shui Station Exit D lobby to go directly to Sheung Shui Station Platform 2; or use the escalator or stairs of Sheung Shui Station Exit A3 to go to Sheung Shui Station Exit A lobby, connecting Sheung Shui Station Exit A4 to Landmark Pedestrian bridges at North and Metropolis Plaza (Highway Department structure number: NF121) and the pedestrian bridge connecting Sheung Shui Station Exit A1 to Choi Yuen Plaza. In addition, one can also use the traffic light crossing across San Wan Road opposite Sheung Shui Station Exit D lobby to travel between Sheung Shui Bus Terminal and Sheung Shui Station Green Minibus Terminal.

The rear end stop is adjacent to the footbridge connecting Sheung Shui Station Exit B to Landmark North (Hyd Department Structure Number: NF122), the ramp entrance and lift on the westbound footpath of San Wan Road, and the stairs connecting Exit E of Sheung Shui Station. Passengers can also use the above facilities to travel between Landmark North, North District Town Hall, Sheung Shui Station Exit B Lobby, Yuk Po Court and Choi Yuen Plaza via the NF122 footbridge.

Situation of use[]

Since many bus routes in and outside the North District pass through this stop, and there are many passengers using this station, they are mainly residents in the area who transfer to the MTR or buses from the MTR at Sheung Shui Station, as well as those who transfer to the MTR towards the Mainland. Therefore during peak hours, buses on various routes have to queue up to pick up and drop off passengers, causing chaos and dissatisfaction among some passengers.[1]
