Sheung Shui Bus Terminus (上水總站) is an indoor bus terminus located on the ground floor of Landmark North, 39 Lung Sum Avenue, Sheung Shui, North District, New Territories. It has a parallel platform configuration and counter-clockwise traffic flow. The entrance is located at San Wan Road and the two exits are at Lung Sum Avenue and Lung Wan Street.

This station is adjacent to the MTR Sheung Shui Station, which is also the Hong Kong terminus of the Man Kam To Express and the Sha Tau Kok Express, and is known as "Landmark North" (上水廣場) by its operator and also by Long Win Bus (LWB). The KMB route maps and stop announcement screens refer to this stop as "Sheung Shui BBI - Sheung Shui Bus Terminus" (上水轉車站-上水總站), while Citybus' dynamic bus stop list shows this station as "Sheung Shui Station" and Citybus' stop announcement system lists "Sheung Shui Station". When the Citybus Stop Announcement System announces this stop, the screen displays "Bravobus Stopreporter Bus Logo Sheung Shui, Landmark North" (上水、上水廣場).

The North District regional bus route rationalisation was implemented in August 2013 and this station is part of the "Sheung Shui BBI" (formerly named Sheung Shui Interchange in English) with the interchange code "A".

Linked to the bus terminus is the Sheung Shui Station Minibus Terminus (上水站小巴總站)[1], located between San Wan Road and Landmark North, which provides local feeder and express services to and from Tuen Mun.

History[]

The main article of this section is Sheung Shui Bus Terminus (1st generation).

The Sheung Shui Station minibus terminus, located between San Wan Road and Landmark North, was opened on 29 January 1988[2] and has a slightly longer history than the adjacent bus terminus.

When Landmark North was opened in 1995, an indoor bus terminus on the ground floor was opened on 17 November 1995[3] and all bus routes terminating at the old Sheung Shui Bus Terminus moved into it on the following Monday.

Some of the bus routes terminating at Sheung Shui pass through San Fung Avenue and make a detour via Lung Wan Street and San Wan Road on both journeys. Before entering the Sheung Shui Bus Terminus, these routes turn left from San Fung Road onto Lung Sum Avenue, then turn right at the junction opposite the car park exit of Sheung Shui Plaza into the section of Lung Wan Street opposite Metropolis Plaza, then turn right at the junction opposite North District Town Hall into the section of San Wan Road where the bus stop at Sheung Shui Station is located before entering the terminus; when leaving the terminus, they must first pass through the section of Lung Wan Street opposite Metro Plaza, then turn right at the junction opposite North District Town Hall into the section of Lung Wan Street opposite Sheung Shui Station, and then turn into the section of San Wan Road opposite to Sheung Shui Station before proceeding to San Fung Road.

On 6 December 2008, the last day of service for KMB Route 70, a large number of bus fans gathered at the Sheung Shui Bus Terminus in the evening to see it off; some of them even took the last bus departing from Jordan departing on the midnight of the following day.

In the 2013 Policy Address, a Area Approach rationalisation plan was proposed, starting with the North District. In August of the same year, the regional bus route rationalisation in North District was implemented and the Sheung Shui Bus Terminus became a regional bus interchange (RBI); it is part of the "Sheung Shui Interchange" to facilitate people in Fanling, Sheung Shui and nearby rural areas to interchange to external routes to and from the urban area.[4]

The bus was retired early on 28th of the same month as it had almost reached its maximum age of 18 years and was not repaired.[5]
  • 11 August 2019: At around 9am, a KMB Volvo B8L bus (V6B81/WF9483) crashed into a wall pillar on the left side of the pit at Sheung Shui Bus Terminus, causing serious damage to the front end of the bus. While being towed back to the depot, the bus lost control at a junction in the area and crashed into a road sign at the centre of the road.
