The Wong Tai Sin BBI - Shatin Pass Road (黃大仙轉車站-沙田坳道) bus stop is located at the junction of eastbound Lung Cheung Road near Shatin Pass Road in Wong Tai Sin, Wong Tai Sin District, Kowloon, situated between Temple Mall South and Hsin Kuang Centre, and is a an intermediate bus stop.

When the Citybus Stop Announcement System announces westbound stop, the screen displays "Bravobus Stopreporter Bus Logo Shatin Pass Road, Wong Tai Sin Station Bravobus Stopreporter MTR Icon" (沙田坳道、黃大仙站 Bravobus Stopreporter MTR Icon).

KMB has combined this stop with the Wong Tai Sin Bus Terminus and the "Wong Tai Sin Temple" intermediate stop on the Lung Cheung Road eastbound to form the "Wong Tai Sin BBI", with this stop being Platform "A".

History[]

Between 1963 and 1968, when the whole section of Lung Cheung Road was not yet open to traffic, this stop was situated at the eastern end of the road. At that time, there was a row-shaped bus terminus at the eastbound side of the road, which was the "Chuk Yuen Bus Terminus" of the Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB)'s routes 3A and 6B, the routes would need to turn right to Shatin Pass Road after driving away from this stop.

The footbridge opened since 1975, taken in August 2011

In 1975, the footbridge across Lung Cheung Road near Hsin Kuang Centre was commissioned. It was a temporary steel casting bridge without a cover, which enabled the public to travel conveniently between the MTR Wong Tai Sin Station, Wong Tai Sin Temple, Upper and Lower Wong Tai Sin Estates and Fung Wong San Tsuen, with heavy pedestrian flow during peak hours. On the other hand, the length of the lay-bys at the two bus stops on Lung Cheung Road East and Westbound at both ends of the footbridge is only 12 metres and 16 metres respectively, resulting in frequent queues of buses waiting to enter the stops. [1]

In January 2009, the Government sought funding approval from the Legislative Council (LegCo) for $83.8 million to reconstruct the above footbridge and widen the lay-bys of the two adjoining bus stops to 52 metres for the eastbound stop and 61 metres for the westbound stop. The works commenced in January 2010[2], and were substantially completed in January 2014 after the funding approval by the Legislative Council (LegCo).[3]

To tie in with the implementation of Area Approach rationalisation for bus routes in Wong Tai Sin District in 2015-2016, KMB carried out improvement works for this stop in June 2015 by installing passenger-friendly facilities such as frequency display panels, waiting signs and large route information boards; at the same time, this station, the neighbouring Wong Tai Sin Station intermediate stop and Wong Tai Sin Bus Terminus were combined to form the Wong Tai Sin Interchange, and interchange concessions for Route 3C and a number of KMB routes to and from the New Territories have also been introduced to expand the service scope of the bus network. [4]

KMB has added "Interchange" to the stop name in January 2023, with its full name being "Wong Tai Sin Interchange, Shatin Pass Road" (黃大仙轉車站,沙田坳道), and was renamed to Wong Tai Sin BBI - Shatin Pass Road a few days later.

As for Citybus, it named this stop "Hsin Kuang Centre" (新光中心) before summer 2010.
