The New Territories Residents' Bus Route NR720 is operated by ABC Touring Car (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 19947A). It runs between Siu Lun Court and Hung Hom Ferry Pier.
This route provides outbound service during morning peak hours on Mondays to Saturdays, and the return service is combined with Route NR707: 3 routings, departing from Hung Hom Ferry Pier, Tsim Sha Tsui and Public Square Street respectively back to Tuen Mun, are provided on Mondays to Fridays, while only Yau Ma Tei/Mong Kok services are provided on Saturdays.
History[]
- 1994: Route 720R entered service with a fare of $12.0 at that time.[1]
- 24 August 2012: Due to the passing of the operator's owner and the transfer of the Passenger Service Licence (PSL) not yet being completed, resulting in its expiry, there were rumours that this route would cease service from that day onwards.[2]
- The PSL was subsequently successfully replaced (the number was changed from 5138A to 19947A), and service on this route continued without interruption. However, the owners' corporation of Siu Lun Court prohibited buses on this route from entering the estate until 7 November of the same year.[3]
- 10 June 2013: The fare was adjusted to $13.0.[4]
- 10 January 2015: Outbound service was introduced and return trips from Kowloon Park Drive on Saturdays were reduced from four to two.
- 1 September 2019: A return trip at 20:15 from Mong Kok (Reclamation Street) on Mondays to Fridays was introduced.[5] However, the service was ceased 3 days later due to unsatisfactory conditions at the terminus.[6]
- 28 December 2020: With the opening of Tuen Mun Chek Lap Kok Tunnel Road, all evening trips that day were rerouted via that road back to Tuen Mun on a trial basis; from the next day onwards, diversions via Tuen Mun Chek Lap Kok Tunnel Road and Lantau Link could be made according to traffic conditions.[7]
- 1 September 2021: The fare was adjusted to $15.0.[8]
- 29 February 2024: The 19:45 departure from Mong Kok (Reclamation Street) was cancelled.[9]
- 6 April 2024: Saturday services were changed to provide one departure only from Public Square Street to Tuen Mun via Mong Kok (Reclamation Street).[10]
