The New Territories Resident Bus Route NR334 is the "Park Island Airport Flyer" (珀麗灣機場專線) operated by Park Island Transport Company Limited (PITCL) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 11288A). It runs between Park Island and Airport via Lantau Link, North Lantau Highway and Cathay City, with additional detours via HZMB Hong Kong Port for departures from Park Island at 00min hourly.
This route is officially a circular route as listed in the according to Transport Department's Schedule of Services, but at the request of individual bus captains, except those boarding at Cathay City, all passengers must alight or repay the fare after the vehicle has arrived at Airport Terminal Building or HZMB Hong Kong Port, therefore it belongs to a fake circular route.
History[]
When Sun Hung Kai Properties rolled out the sale of flats in Park Island, it was stated in the sales brochure that there would be a ferry service to and from the Airport. However, in 2002, the Airport Authority withdrew the Chek Lap Kok Ferry Pier for conversion into SkyPier, thus putting the plan on hold indefinitely.
In view of the transport needs of the residents, Park Island Transport planned to launch the Hong Kong International Airport Resident Bus Service in 2006 and announced the installation of a large-sized LCD screen at the Park Island Bus Terminus to display the latest flight information.
- 3 June 2007: Route NR334 was put into service, with free trial rides available to households on the inaugural day.
- 1 July 2008: The $18.0 resident concessionary fare was cancelled.
- 1 November 2016: The "Intra-Island Bus Service Interchange Discount for the Elderly and Eligible Persons with Disabilities" was introduced on a trial basis. The $2.0 section fare of this route on Ma Wan Island could be waived when connecting to Route NR331 or NR331S to/from Tsuen Wan between 10:00 and 00:50.
- 2 May 2018: Due to the implementation of vehicular control at the Cathay City Carpark, the concerned intermediate stop was relocated from East Coast Road to outside the main entrance at Scenic Road.
- 19 February 2019: To tie in with the commencement of expansion works at Terminal 2, the airport pick-up point was relocated from the Terminal 2 Coach Terminal at Terminal 2 to the newly completed Coach Station at Carpark 1, while the intermediate stop originally located outside Terminal 1 at Cheong Hong Road was cancelled.
- 1 May 2020: Service was suspended until 30 April 2021 due to continued decline in patronage as a result of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak. From the same date onwards, only Octopus payment was accepted and cash payment was no longer accepted.
- The then Tsuen Wan District Councillor, Roy Tam Hoi-pong (譚凱邦), discussed the matter with Park Island Transport, and the bus company offered to operate six buses during peak hours, but in the end no consensus could be reached.
- 4 January 2021: Real-time arrival enquiry service was introduced on this route.[1]
- 1 December 2023: Octopus interchange concessions with NLB Route B4 was introduced.[2]
- 1 February 2024: Departures from Park Island hourly at 00min detoured via "HZMB Hong Kong Port Loading and Unloading Area".
