The Red Minibus Yuen Long - Sheung Shui Route (17), also named "Route 17", is operated by NT San Tin PLB (17) Owners Association (新界新田公共小型巴士(17)車主商會). It runs between Yuen Long (Shui Che Kwun Street) and Sheung Shui (San Fat Street), passing through Castle Peak Road (Tam Mi, Mai Po, San Tin, Chau Tau and Kwu Tung sections).
Route 17 runs along Castle Peak Road between Yuen Long and Sheung Shui in the rural areas. To facilitate passengers to differentiate between Route 17 and PLB Route 18 which runs between Yuen Long and Sheung Shui via Fan Kam Road, the operator has used the former "Route 17" of KMB Route 76K, which operates on a similar routing, as the route number.
This route has been added to the Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme, in which passengers who use Octopus to pay their fares will be included in the calculation of the subsidy.
