Ridership[]

This route runs between Tsuen Wan Town Centre and Kwai Shing Estate via Kwai Fuk Road, taking away a large number of passengers from KMB Route 34 and its branch route 34A, which led to the cessation of operation of Route 34A in 1988, with long queues of people waiting for minibuses in the Tsuen Wan Terminus during peak hours.[16]

According to District Council documents, the ridership of this route is as follows:

  • 2014: During on-site inspection at Kwai Luen Road for Tsuen Wan direction, the average occupancy rate from 7:00 am to 9:00 am was 93%.[17]
  • Early 2019: The daily patronage of the route group to which it belongs is 30,300.[18]
  • 2021: During on-site inspection of the service at Kwai Shing West Estate for Tsuen Wan direction, the average occupancy rate from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. was about 70%, with some passengers staying behind, but it took about 5 minutes to catch the next minibus.[19]

Related incidents[]

  • 29 September 2020: At around 1pm, a Toyota Coaster (VA8579) heading eastbound along Yeung Uk Road towards Kwai Shing (Kwai Hau Street) was hit by a tractor-trailer with a trailer running along Texaco Road towards Tsing Yi when it arrived at the junction with Texaco Road, and the minibus driver was hospitalised with injuries. Two taxis, a lorry and a private car were also involved in the accident.[20]
