The New Territories Green Minibus Route 812A is operated by Rock Smart Development Limited (樂聰發展有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 14452C). It runs between Shui Chuen O and Sha Tin Wai Station.

This route is officially a circular route as listed in the according to Transport Department's Schedule of Services, but under any circumstances, all passengers must alight after the vehicle has arrived at Sha Tin Wai Station, therefore it belongs to a fake circular route.

History[]

According to a field survey conducted by the Transport Department (TD) in the fourth quarter of 2015, GMB Route 812 was operating near its full capacity during peak hours. To facilitate the diversion of passengers during peak hours, the related green minibus operator has increased its resources for the provision of an additional short-working trip, Route 812A.

  • 21 February 2016: Route 812A entered service, operating only during daily AM and PM peak hoursy. [1]
  • 18 July 2016: Upgraded to whole-day service.[2]
  • 17 July 2017: The service hours were extended to 23:45.[3]
  • 28 August 2017: A new special AM trip from Pok Chuen Path to Sha Tin Wai Station departing from 07:00 to 09:00 during Mondays to Fridays was introduced.[4]
  • 12 December 2020: The first departure from Mondays to Fridays were advanced to 06:00, and the last departure from Mondays to Saturdays was delayed to 00:00.[5]
  • 22 December 2021: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route.[6]

  • Passengers must use the same Octopus Card to pay the fare for both the minibus and MTR to enjoy the above-mentioned interchange concession.
  • Passengers can enjoy the above transfer discount at any MTR station / minibus stop that connects to the second leg of the route.
  • The MTR ride does not apply to Light Rail, Airport Express, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus services.
  • The MTR interchange concession only applies to paid rides. Unless otherwise specified, passengers using the Monthly Pass Enhanced Version or Disneyland Line Monthly Ticket (including those who have paid First Class Supplementary Fare) cannot enjoy this concession when taking the MTR at designated stations; however, if Enhanced Monthly Pass or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Ticket holders take paid rides outside the designated stations, the concession still applies.
  • If passengers have just used the same Octopus Card for the Airport Express "Free MTR Connection," they cannot simultaneously enjoy the MTR interchange concession.
  • If both "MTR Fare Saver" and "MTR Interchange Concession" are applicable, passengers can only enjoy one of the higher discounts.
  • Higher concession amounts are available for certain GMB routes at designated MTR stations.

According to the Transport Department's Schedule of Services, this route and Route 812A are served by a total of 12 minibuses with 16 or 19 seats. The combined capacity of the two routes is not less than 96 passengers per direction during the peakiest hour.
