The New Territories Green Minibus (GMB) Route 7 is operated by Sai Kung P.L.B. (Maxicab) (No. 1 & 2) Company Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 4655C). It runs between Sai Kung Pier and Hoi Ha, via Tai Mong Tsai, Pak Tam Chung, Lady MacLehose Holiday Village, Pak Tam Au and Hoi Ha Road. It is the sole public transport service along Hoi Ha Road.

This is one of the few GMB routes that do not pass through any traffic light-controlled intersections.

History[]

  • 16 October 1981: The Transport Department invited public tenders for a new set of four green minibus routes to and from Lady MacLehose Holiday Village, namely this route, routes 6, 8 and 9. [1]
  • 1 March 1982: Route 7 was introduced to operate between Lady MacLehose Holiday Village and Hoi Ha only hourly from 08:00 to 11:00 daily. [2]
  • 30 October 1983: In line with the reorganisation of public transport services for the Sai Kung Country Park, the service was extended from Lady MacLehose Resort to Pak Tam Chung and changed to a holiday morning to dusk service only, replacing KMB Route 95R in the Hoi Ha area. [3]
  • 1 May 2001: Octopus card payment was accepted.
  • 1 July 2003: Extended from Pak Tam Chung to Sai Kung Pier and changed to daily service from morning to dusk. [4]
  • 25 June 2021: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route.[5]
