The New Territories Green Minibus Route 62K is operated by Rich Success Transportation Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 11253C). It runs between Sha Tin Station and Shatin Lodge, providing public transportation services to passengers in the residential areas of Northern Fo Tan to Sha Tin Central.

History[]

  • 28 March 1982: A new special trip of Route 60 was introduced: Lok Kwai Path (Pak Tak Court) [1]Sau Chuen House /Wo Che Estate ; Lok Kwai Path ↔ Kowloon Tong MTR Station.[2]
  • Mid-1982: Extended from Lek Yuen/Wo Che to Sha Tin Market.
  • 20 August 1982: Terminus was relocated from Sha Tin Market to Sha Tin KCR Station [3] and route number was changed to 60K.
  • 23 September 1985: Special services on route 60K to Shatin Lodge were independently numbered was 62K.
  • 2003: Due to the poor service record of the original operator, Lap Hong minibus Conpany , the Transport Department revoked its passenger operating license [4] and re-tendered this route along with routes 60K, 60P, 60R, 61M, and 61S on August 1[5]; ultimately Rich Success Transportation defeated the remaining five companies including Kiu Wan and took over this group of routes on 5 November of the same year.
  • 24 September 2021: Real-time Arrival Information was introduced to this route. [6]

  • Elderly persons aged 65 or above using Elderly Octopus or Personalised Octopus cards, Hong Kong residents aged 60 to 64 using JoyYou Card, and eligible persons with disabilities using Personalised Octopus cards with"Persons with Disabilities Status" can enjoy a flat fare of $2.0 per journey under the Concessionary Fare.
  • Passengers are required to tender exact fare in cash or by Octopus card upon boarding. No change will be given.

Notes:
  • Passengers must use the same Octopus Card to pay the fare for both the minibus and MTR to enjoy the above-mentioned interchange concession.
  • Passengers can enjoy the above transfer discount at any MTR station / minibus stop that connects to the second leg of the route.
  • The MTR ride does not apply to Light Rail, Airport Express, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus services.
  • The MTR interchange concession only applies to paid rides. Unless otherwise specified, passengers using the Monthly Pass Enhanced Version or Disneyland Line Monthly Ticket (including those who have paid First Class Supplementary Fare) cannot enjoy this concession when taking the MTR at designated stations; however, if Enhanced Monthly Pass or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Ticket holders take paid rides outside the designated stations, the concession still applies.
  • If passengers have just used the same Octopus Card for the Airport Express "Free MTR Connection," they cannot simultaneously enjoy the MTR interchange concession.
  • If both "MTR Fare Saver" and "MTR Interchange Concession" are applicable, passengers can only enjoy one of the higher discounts.
  • Higher concession amounts are available for certain GMB routes at designated MTR stations.

Minibus deployments[]

According to the Transport Department's "Schedule of Service", this route requires a total of 4 minibuses to provide service. The total passenger capacity in each direction during the peak hour is not less than 144.

Current this route and Route Route 60K, 60P, 60R and 61M have a total of 30 TOYOTA Coaster minibuses, included 18 of 16-seater minibuses and 12 of 19-seater minibuses. Some minibuses also run on the New Territories Route 61S at night.
