The New Territories Overnight Green Minibus Route 61S is operated by Rich Success Transportation Limited (富昇運輸有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 11253C). It runs between Sha Tin (Wo Che Estate) and Mong Kok, via Sha Tin Wai, San Tin Wai.
History[]
- 28 May 1984: Route 61M has enhanced to daily 24-hour service, with the following arrangement for overnight hours:[1]
- From 00:00-01:30 period running between Kowloon Tong MTR Station and Lek Yuen/Wo Che every 15 mins, the fare remained at $2.5;
- From 01:30 to 05:45, the frequency is extended to MTR Mong Kok Station (Sai Yeung Choi Street) running Circular between Lek Yuen/Wo Che, departure every 15 mins before 03:15, and departure every 30 mins after 03:15, the fare is $3.0.
- 1 November 1992: All overnight trips were changed to terminate at Mong Kok.
- 1 June 1996: The overnight services between Mong Kok and Wo Che were separately numbered as 61S.
- 2003: The Passenger Service Licence of the original operator, Standard Line Limited (立航有限公司), was revoked due to the poor service record[2] and this route was re-tendered this route along with routes 60K, 60P, 60R, 61M, and 62K on 1 August.[3] Eventually, Rich Success Transportation took over this group of routes on 5 November of the same year.
- 29 December 2017: Departures from 23:00 to 02:30 every night were extended to Royal Ascot, omitting Tak Hau Street towards Mong Kok, with the full fare of the related departure increased to $16.4 on a trial basis for half a year.[4]
- 29 June 2018: Trips to/from Royal Ascot was reduced to 4 trips only.[5]
- 24 September 2021: Real-time Arrival Information was introduced to this route.[6]

Related incidents[]
- 10 March 2000: At midnight, a green minibus towards Wo Che overturned after colliding with a private car at the junctions of Tai Chung Kiu Road, Sha Tin Wai Road and Sha Tin Rural Committee Road, resulting in one death and 13 injuries.[18][19]
- 19 May 2014: At around 1am, a Toyota Coaster (LD2711) towards Mong Kok was turning to Nathan Road at Bute Street when its under-body Liquefied Petroleum Gas ("LPG") fuel tank was cracked by a blow to the under-body from a hard object, suspected to be a wooden cube, resulting in the release of LPG, but there were no injuries in the incident.[20][21]
- 13 January 2017: At around 10pm, a lorry heading southbound on Waterloo Road before the junction with Hereford Road was suspected to have failed to retract its brakes and crashed into a four-wheel drive vehicle waiting for a traffic light in front of it, and then crashed into a Toyota Coaster minibus (FK1693) of the same route and two private cars, which caused five-vehicle burnt. Two people, including the driver of the minibus, were injured and hospitalised.[22]
- 27 June 2024: At around 5am, a Toyota Coaster (LD967) towards Mong Kok Station was hit by a taxi at the rear of the vehicle while it was stopped on the Express Line waiting for assistance due to mechanical failure at Lion Rock Tunnel Road near Hung Mui Kuk Road, and the taxi driver and two passengers were trapped and hospitalised for injuries.[23]
