The New Territories Green Minibus Route 618 is operated by Yield Team Limited (天祐有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 15998C). It runs between Tin Shui Wai (Tin Yan Estate) and Shenzhen Bay Port, passing through Hong Kong Wetland Park, Kingswood North, Tin Shui Wai Town Centre and Ha Tsuen.

History[]

  • 23 March 2007: The Transport Department invited open tender for the operating rights of five green minibus routes, of which this route is one of them. [1]
  • 1 July 2007: The Shenzhen Bay Port was officially opened at 6:00 pm on that day, and Route 618 was put into service immediately, which at that time took Yuen Long Highway and Hung Tin Road to and from Tin Shui Wai. [2]
  • Unknown: Route 618 was rerouted to return to Tin Shui Wai via Ha Tsuen Road and Tin Ha Road instead of Yuen Long Highway.
  • 8 February 2020: In response to the epidemic of novel coronavirus pneumonia, the Government implemented further anti-epidemic control measures to compress the cross-boundary passenger flow, and this route was suspended from that date until 7 January 2023. [3][4]
  • 27 October 2022: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route. [5]
  • 21 April 2024: Special departures were introduced, in which departures from Tin Yan Estate at 06:20 - 10:00 and 16:00 - 19:00 on Mondays to Fridays, as well as all trips on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays were changed to return to the original routing at Tin Wah Road via Tin Ying Road after crossing Tin Chak Estate for Shenzhen Bay Port direction. [6]
  • 2 December 2024: The original special trips omitting Wetland Park and Tin Shui Wai Town Centre was renumbered as 618A.[7]
