The New Territories Green Minibus Route 611 is operated by Good Foundation Transportation (定基運輸有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 17902C). It runs circular between Shan Pui Road and Yuen Long (Fau Tsoi Street), via The Parcville, Tung Tau Industrial Estate and Yuen Long Station.

Route 611 departs its first service at 9:00 AM daily, while the AM peak service is provided by the short-distance auxiliary route 611A.

History[]

  • 22 March 2002: Transport Department opened tenders for 7 groups of 15 new minibus routes, of which 2 routes are planning to start from The Parcville towards New Yuen Long Centre and Tsing Yi AR Station respectively, replacing the The Parcville residents' bus routes that were not approved by Transport Department.[1]
    • Tender provisions stipulated that operators must utilise LPG minibuses, which provoked dissatisfaction from the Hong Kong Public and Green Minibus Operators Association and the Green Minibus Alliance. Ultimately, the Transport Department did not receive any bids.[2]
  • 3 May 2002: The Transport Department has once again put out a tender for minibus routes, without bundling the Tsing Yi AR Station route into the tender.[3]
  • 1 September 2002: Route 611 entered service, running circular route between The Parcville and Yuen Long (Fau Tsoi Street), via Po Yip Street, serving the residents of the new housing estate. At that time, the terminus was set up within the housing estate, and the developer Sun Hung Kai Properties provided a monthly subsidy of $20,000 through its subsidiary, Hong Yip Services Management Limited.
  • 28 July 2003: Re-routed via Yuen Long Kau Hui Road, New Yuen Long Centre and Yuen Long Tai Cheung Street. [4]
  • 30 April 2004: The operator cancelled the contract with The Parcville and no longer terminated at the estate passageway. Instead, it terminated at the roadside next to the estate gate, with the terminal located at the car park at the western end of Shan Pui Road (current Tung Shing Village).
  • 13 September 2009: The terminus was re-located to the east side of Shan Pui Road near Shan Pui Village, and the peak hour service was split into a new route, 611A.
  • 4 October 2009: The West Rail Line interchange concession was also introduced. Passengers paying with Octopus can interchange to the West Rail Line within 60 minutes and receive a $0.3 discount on the second leg fare.[5]
  • 16 June 2019: Omitted Yuen Long (East) to facilitate the property development works at Yuen Long Station.[6]
  • 27 October 2022: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route.[7]
