The New Territories Green Minibus (GMB) Route 59S is operated by Big Union Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 4761C) under Ma Ah Muk. It runs between Sheung Shui Station and Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point, and is a supplementary service to Route 59K.

History[]

In May 2018, the Administration published the Local Public Transport Service Arrangements at Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point, proposing a new short-haul special service on New Territories GMB Route 59K between Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point and Sheung Shui Station. The Department would require the operator to increase the number of vehicles to operate the special short-haul service to ensure that the existing passengers travelling to and from Lin Ma Hang would not be affected [1]. The short-haul special departure was subsequently individually numbered as Route 59S.

The Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point was completed in August 2020. Due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia in early 2020, only cargo clearance was conducted at the initial stage. With the change of the epidemic situation, passenger clearance service was provided at the Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point from 6 February 2023, and this route was launched at the same time.[2][3]

Route Change History[]

  • 30 September 2023: Last minibus time from Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point was postponed from 22:15 to 22:30. [4]
