The New Territories Green Minibus Route 57K is operated by Yau Ho Enterprise Limited (友好企業有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 13653C) under Yau Man Investment. It runs between Sheung Shui Station and Tong Kung Leng. Special trips also run between Sheung Shui Station and Tsiu Keng (Pang Uk Tsuen).

According to the Transport Department's Schedule of Services, this route heading towards Tong Kung Leng will first cross the Sheung Yue River to the end of Cheung Lek Village, and then return to Tong Kong Ling on the other side of the Sheung Yue River. However, in actual operation, Route 57K terminates at Cheung Lek Village and then returns after a short stop. Therefore, Cheung Lek Village is the actual terminus and Tong Kung Leng is the intermediate stop and passengers heading to Sheung Shui can board the minibus at Cheung Lek Village.

History[]

  • 15 November 1985: The Transport Department (TD) invited open tenders for 11 groups of a total of 24 green minibus (GMB) routes, among which this route was grouped together with Routes 17 and 18S (current routes 58K and 58S).[1]
  • 28 August 1986: Route 16 entered service to replace the lorry bus services[2]; initially the terminus was located at Shek Wu Hui (San Shing Avenue) (between Fu Hing Road and Lung Sum Avenue).
  • 31 March 1987: A new special trip running to and from Tsiu Keng with 20-minute interval was introduced.
  • 29 January 1988: Renumbered as Route 57K following the service rationalisation of green minibus routes in North District, with the Sheung Shui terminus being relocated to Sheung Shui Station at the same time.[3]
  • 2011: Tsiu Keng special trips were extended to Tsiu Keng (Pang Uk Tsuen) following the completion of road works at Tsiu Keng Road.[4]
