The New Territories Green Minibus (GMB) Route 505 is operated by Vantage Billion Development Limited (衍利發展有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 19038C). It runs between Sheung Shui (San Fat Street) and Sha Tin (Yuen Chau Kok), serving Tin Ping Estate, Luen Wo Hui and Cheung Wah Estate in North District, as well as Shek Mun and Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin District and passes through Fanling Highway, Tolo Highway and Tate's Cairn Highway.

This route has the highest fare among all daytime GMB routes.

History[]

  • 24 December 2021: The Transport Department invited open tenders for the operating rights of two sets of a total of 3 new green minibus (GMB) routes, with this route being tendered as a separate group. [1]
  • 9 October 2022: Route 505 entered service. [2]
  • 15 May 2023: Trial run of shortworking trips at 07:00, 08:00, 09:00, 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00 on Mondays to Fridays from Luen Wo Hui (Wo Mun Street) to Prince of Wales Hospital was introduced for a period of six months to 11 November 2023. [3][4]
  • 22 December 2024: New section fare from Jockey Club Road near Tong Hang to Sheung Shui (San Fat Street) was introduced to this route.[5]

  • Elderly persons aged 65 or above using Elderly Octopus or Personalised Octopus cards, Hong Kong residents aged 60 to 64 using JoyYou Card, and eligible persons with disabilities using Personalised Octopus cards with"Persons with Disabilities Status" can enjoy a flat fare of $2.0 per journey under the Concessionary Fare.
  • Passengers are required to tender exact fare in cash or by Octopus card upon boarding. No change will be given.

Notes:
  • Passengers must use the same Octopus Card to pay the fare for both the minibus and MTR to enjoy the above-mentioned interchange concession.
  • Passengers can enjoy the above interchange concession at any MTR station / minibus stop that connects to the second leg of the route.
  • The MTR ride does not apply to Light Rail, Airport Express, High Speed Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus services.
  • The MTR interchange concession only applies to paid rides. Unless otherwise specified, passengers using the Monthly Pass Enhanced or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Pass (including those who have paid First Class Supplementary Fare) cannot enjoy this concession when taking the MTR at designated stations; however, if Enhanced Monthly Pass or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Ticket holders take paid rides outside the designated stations, the concession still applies.
  • If passengers have just used the same Octopus Card for the Airport Express "Free MTR Connection," they cannot simultaneously enjoy the MTR interchange concession.
  • If both "MTR Fare Saver" and "MTR Interchange Concession" are applicable, passengers can only enjoy one of the higher discounts.
  • Higher concession amounts are available for certain GMB routes at designated MTR stations.

Related incidents[]

  • 16 May 2023: At around 8:00 p.m., a Toyota Coaster (YM2511) heading for Sheung Shui (San Fat Street) collided head-on with a private car that was suspected to have lost control and crossed the line due to the driver's drunkenness at Wo Muk Road, resulting in injuries to seven people. [7]
  • 25 September 2023: A Toyota Coaster (YF5181) heading for Sheung Shui (San Fat Street) hit an old woman at the junction of Wo Tai Street and Wo Muk Road at about 3:00 p.m., who was suspected to have failed to comply with the traffic light signal, and the victim was sent to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
