The New Territories Overnight Green Minibus (GMB) Route 501S is operated by Fully Mint Limited (富明有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 7868C) under Ma Ah Muk. It runs between Sheung Shui (Shek Wu Hui) and Kwun Tong Station (Yue Man Square), via Fanling (Luen Wo Hui, Wah Ming Estate), Hong Lok Yuen, Tai Po (Tai Wo Estate, Tai Po Market), Sha Tin (Yuen Wo Road, Jat Min Chuen), Lion Rock Tunnel, Wong Tai Sin, Diamond Hill, Choi Hung and Kowloon Bay, and provides overnight service between New Territories East and Kowloon East.

According to the Schedule of Services of the Transport Department, the terminus of Route 501S at Sheung Shui is located at Sheung Shui Station. In fact, the terminus is located next to the bus stop on the southbound side of San Fung Avenue near the junction of Lung Sum Avenue and diagonally opposite to the Shek Wu Hui Post Office.

History[]

  • 26 August 1994: The Transport Department invited public tenders for 8 groups of 21 new green minibus (GMB) routes, which were grouped into the same group as routes 501K and 807K.[1]
  • 5 February 1996: Route 501S entered service, running between Sheung Shui Station and Lam Tin Station, becoming the second overnight green minibus route in the North District (the first one being Route 58S).
  • 2005: Detoured via Yung Shing Court, Cheong Shing Court and Yat Ming Road in Fanling South.
  • 2 August 2009: Kwun Tong District Terminus was officially changed from Lam Tin Station to Kwun Tong Station (Yue Man Square). In the past, if there were no passengers travelling to Lam Tin, the minibus would turn back at Yue Man Square.
  • 25 March 2021: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route. [2]
  • 23 January 2022: Fare payment by AlipayHK "EasyGO" was accepted.[3]
  • 24 September 2022: The service time was changed to 00:15 to 05:15 daily for both directions.[4]

  • Passengers are required to tender exact fare in cash or by Octopus card upon boarding. No change will be given.
  • Passengers who wish to pay the two-way section fares by Octopus card should press the "Section Fare" button on the Octopus fare processor to adjust the fare to the appropriate amount before tapping.
  • This route accepts payments with AlipayHK "EasyGo", but interchange concessions and the $2.0 flat fare per trip are not entitled with this payment method.

  • The MTR ride does not apply to Light Rail, Airport Express, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus services.
  • The MTR interchange concession only applies to paid rides. Unless otherwise specified, passengers using the Monthly Pass Enhanced Version or Disneyland Line Monthly Ticket (including those who have paid First Class Supplementary Fare) cannot enjoy this concession when taking the MTR at designated stations; however, if Enhanced Monthly Pass or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Ticket holders take paid rides outside the designated stations, the concession still applies.
  • If passengers have just used the same Octopus Card for the Airport Express "Free MTR Connection," they cannot simultaneously enjoy the MTR interchange concession.
  • If both "MTR Fare Saver" and "MTR Interchange Concession" are applicable, passengers can only enjoy one of the higher discounts.

According to the Transport Department's "Schedule of Services", this route is served by the total of 3 minibuses, of which 2 are 19-seater minibuses. The total passenger capacity in each direction during the peakiest hour is not less than 16.

Currently New Territories Routes 501 series/807 series under Fully Mint have a total of 37 Toyota Coaster minibuses, including 11 16-seater minibuses and 26 19-seater minibuses. Some minibuses will support this route.
