The New Territories Green Minibus (GMB) Route 501K is operated by Fully Mint Limited (富明有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 7868C) under Ma Ah Muk. It runs circular between Yan Shing Court and Luen Wo Hui.
According to the official information of Transport Department (TD), this route departs from Yan Shing Court, with a circular point at Fanling Station, and passes through Luen Wo Hui on its return journey.
History[]
- 26 August 1994: The Transport Department invited public tenders for 8 groups of 21 new green minibus (GMB) routes, which were grouped into the same group as routes 501S and 807K.[1]
- 18 November 1997: Route 501K entered service, running between Yan Shing Court and Fanling Station at that time.
- 2000: Extended to Luen Wo Hui.
- 1 May 2005: An interchange concession with KCR East Rail was introduced, offering passengers using the same Adult Octopus Card to interchange between this route and KCR East Rail (or the MTR Urban Lines after the rail merger) and receive a $0.5 discount when entering or exiting Fanling Station.[2]
- 7 August 2009: Due to insufficient patronage of the evening trips of both Routes 501A and 501K, departures after 18:00 daily were merged with this route which ran between Yung Shing Court and Luen Wo Hui, and the return journey was detoured Yan Shing Court and Yat Ming Road.[3]
- According to the information provided by the Transport Department, the route and departures are purely special trips of this route, but in fact they are operated under the route number 501A/501K.
- 27 May 2011: Omitted Yat Ming Road for Yan Shing Court temporarily and rerouted via Pak Wo Road westbound with a temporary stop due to the drainage works at Yat Ming Road (westbound).[4][5]
- 9 June 2011: Temporarily detoured via Yat Ming Road eastbound for Yan Shing Court direction.[6]
- 25 August 2012: Drainage works at Yat Ming Road were completed and the traffic route before diversion on 27 May 2011 was resumed for Yan Shing Court direction.
- 25 March 2021: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route. [7]
- 14 June 2021: The combined route was separately numbered as 501C and its service hours were extended to after 10:00 am on weekdays and whole day of holidays, while this route was reduced to serve before 10:00 am on Mondays to Saturdays.[8]
- 23 January 2022: Fare payment by AlipayHK "EasyGO" was accepted.[9]

Ridership[]
According to District Council documents, the ridership of this route is as follows:
- June 2019: The average occupancy rate at Yung Shing Court Terminus was about 67% during the afternoon peak period, with most left-behind passengers able to board on the next trip.[11]
Related incidents[]
- 27 July 2024: The Transport Department (TD) announced that since 19 May, passengers paying by non-cash on this group of 4 routes were charged higher fares than those approved by the Department, ranging from 30¢ to $1.0. The Department found the incident unacceptable and the fares of the four routes were restored to the original fares from the first departure on that day.[12] From 5 August onwards, the operator refunded the overcharged fares in cash through Octopus, AlipayHK and at the Wo Mun Street.[13] Compensation for the free-ride day was subsequently made on 18 August of the same year, but no service was provided on this route on that day.[14]
