The New Territories Green Minibus (GMB) Route 409K is operated by Kam Jet Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 10115C) under Chiap Shing Motor. It runs circular between Cheung Hang (Hang Mei Street) and MTR Tsuen Wan West Station, via Tsing Yi Estate, MTR Tsing Yi Station, Cheung On Estate, Tsing Tsuen Bridge and Tsuen Wan Town Centre.
This route is a supplementary service to Route 409 and provides convenient access to Tsuen Wan West Station for Tsing Yi passengers to connect to the MTR Tuen Ma Line. It is also the first new green minibus route to be introduced after the rail merger to offer railway interchange concessions, and is also the first new GMB route with the letter "K" as suffix to be introduced after the merger.
History[]
- 5 October 2008: Route 409K was split from Route 409, running between Cheung Hang (Hang Mei Street) and Tsuen Wan West Station.[1]
- 24 April 2011: Rerouted via Sha Tsui Road, Ham Tin Street, Tak Wah Street, Kwan Mun Hau Street for Cheung Hang direction (i.e. same as that of Route 409) and no longer passed through Tai Ho Road off Hang Seng Bank Tai Ho Road Branch and Castle Peak Road off Tsuen Wan Multi-Storey Car Park Building.
- 15 June 2014: Rerouted via Yeung Uk Road to directly head towards Texaco Road for Cheung Hang direction and no longer served Sha Tsui Road, Ham Tin Street, Tak Wah Street, Kwan Mun Hau Street and Castle Peak Road.[2]
- 1 May 2018: With the closure of Cheung Hang (Hang Mei Street) Minibus Terminus due to residential development, the Tsing Yi terminus was relocated to the parking bay next to the Cheung Wang Bus Terminus near Liu To Road.[3]
- 24 February 2019: The Tsuen Wan terminus was re-located to the newly completed Hoi Kwai Road Public Transport Interchange.[4]
- 2 December 2019: Re-routed via Texaco Road and changed to turn left directly to Tsuen Fu Street for Tsuen Wan direction, omitting Tsuen Wing Street and Tsuen Wah Street.[5]

- 31 March 2024: The Tsing Yi terminus was relocated to the green minibus terminus at The Met. Azure.[6]

- 1 March 2025: At 11:46 a.m., a Tsing Yi (Cheung Hang) bound GMI Gemini (LM144) was turning from Tai Ho Road into Yeung Uk Road when it hit a 71-year-old female passer-by who was crossing the road illegally. She sustained head and hand injuries and became unconscious and was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment.[18] The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving.[19]
