The New Territories Green Minibus (GMB) Route 409K is operated by Kam Jet Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 10115C) under Chiap Shing Motor. It runs circular between Cheung Hang (Hang Mei Street) and MTR Tsuen Wan West Station, via Tsing Yi Estate, MTR Tsing Yi Station, Cheung On Estate, Tsing Tsuen Bridge and Tsuen Wan Town Centre.

This route is a supplementary service to Route 409 and provides convenient access to Tsuen Wan West Station for Tsing Yi passengers to connect to the MTR Tuen Ma Line. It is also the first new green minibus route to be introduced after the rail merger to offer railway interchange concessions, and is also the first new GMB route with the letter "K" as suffix to be introduced after the merger.

  • Elderly persons aged 65 or above using Elderly Octopus or Personalised Octopus cards and eligible persons with disabilities using Personalised Octopus cards with "Persons with Disabilities Status" can enjoy a flat fare of $2.0 per journey under the Concessionary Fare.
  • Passengers are required to tender exact fare in cash or by Octopus card upon boarding. No change will be given.
  • Passengers who wish to pay the two-way section fares by Octopus card should press the "Section Fare" button on the Octopus fare processor to adjust the fare to the appropriate amount before tapping.

Notes:
  • Passengers must use the same Octopus Card to pay the fare for both the minibus and MTR to enjoy the above-mentioned interchange concession.
  • Passengers can enjoy the above interchange concession at any MTR station / minibus stop that connects to the second leg of the route.
  • The MTR ride does not apply to Light Rail, Airport Express, High Speed Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus services.
  • The MTR interchange concession only applies to paid rides. Unless otherwise specified, passengers using the Monthly Pass Enhanced or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Pass (including those who have paid First Class Supplementary Fare) cannot enjoy this concession when taking the MTR at designated stations; however, if Enhanced Monthly Pass or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Ticket holders take paid rides outside the designated stations, the concession still applies.
  • If passengers have just used the same Octopus Card for the Airport Express "Free MTR Connection," they cannot simultaneously enjoy the MTR interchange concession.
  • If both "MTR Fare Saver" and "MTR Interchange Concession" are applicable, passengers can only enjoy one of the higher discounts.
  • Higher concession amounts are available for certain GMB routes at designated MTR stations.

Minibus deployments[]

According to the Schedule of Services of the Transport Department, a total of 5 minibuses are required to provide service on this route with one being a 19-seat minibus. The capacity of the peakiest hour must not be less than 80, and some minibuses may be dispatched from routes 409 or 409S.

Currently Kam Jet under New Territories 409 series have a total of 27 minibuses, included 15 of 16-seater minibuses and 12 of 19-seater minibuses, the model showed below:

Related events/incidents[]

  • 1 March 2025: At 11:46 a.m., a Tsing Yi (Cheung Hang) bound GMI Gemini (LM144) was turning from Tai Ho Road into Yeung Uk Road when it hit a 71-year-old female passer-by who was crossing the road illegally. She sustained head and hand injuries and became unconscious and was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment.[18] The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving.[19]

Remarks[]

  1. Numbers placed after the model Toyota Coaster (if any) are only used within the transport enthusiasts, others (including the industry) does not use such names.
  2. The 3rd generation was originally a vehicle from Yan Yan Ho's New Territories Routes 101M/102, and was changed to serve on Chew Luen' Red Minibus Kwun Mong Route fleets, until June 2005 when it was retired.
  3. The 5LS2 was originally a vehicle on Red Minibus To Tsuen Route, and was changed to serve on King On Transportation and Kam Jet in November 2011 and August 2013, until it was retired in October 2018.
  4. The plate no. was once used on a 2017 7DL in December 2017, then retired earlier due to traffic accident in June 2023.
