The New Territories Green Minibus (GMB) Route 302 is operated by Loadwin Industrial Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 6567C) under Ma Ah Muk. It runs between Tsing Lung Tau (Hong Kong Garden) and Kwai Fong (Kwai Chung Plaza), passing through Sham Tseng, Ting Kau, Yau Kom Tau, Tsuen Wan West, Tsuen Wan Town Centre (Sha Tsui Road), Tai Wo Hau Station and Kwai Hing.

This route is officially a circular route as listed in the according to Transport Department's Schedule of Services, but under any circumstances, all passengers must alight after the vehicle has arrived at Kwai Chung Plaza, therefore it belongs to a fake circular route.

History[]

  • 31 August 1990: The Transport Department (TD) invited open tender for 27 new GMB routes in 14 groups, which are grouped with Route 301M. [1]
    • This route was created in connection with the planned diversion of KMB Route 52 to run via Tuen Mun Road and Tsuen Wan Road. This route was established to meet future demand when the route was renumbered as Route 52X on 4 May 1992, which no longer ran via Castle Peak Road - Tsuen Wan to Kwai Chung.
  • 24 December 1991: Route 302 entered service between Tsing Lung Tau and Lai King (North).
  • 20 June 1992: Converted to a circular route returning at Kwai Chung Plaza and no longer served Lai King, with service hours extended to 22:00.
  • 1 May 1995: Due to the implementation of bus-only lane scheme on Tuen Mun Road, only buses were allowed to operate at Sham Tseng Interchange, causing serious congestion on Castle Peak Road. As a result, an express service 302P was introduced from Hong Kong Garden to Kwai Chung Plaza via Sham Tseng Interchange and Tuen Mun Road in one direction from Monday to Saturday mornings, with frequency every 10/12 minutes from 07:00 to 09:00. Subsequently, traffic on Castle Peak Road slowed down shortly after the re-opening of Sham Tseng Interchange from 12 June, and the route was cancelled in around July.
  • 25 June 2021: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route.[2]
