The New Territories Green Minibus (GMB) Route 2 is operated by Sai Kung P.L.B. (Maxicab) (No. 1 & 2) Company Limited (西貢(1、2號)(專線)小巴有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 4655C). It runs between Sai Kung (Yi Chun Street) and Ho Chung, with special trips serving Kai Ham and Pak Kong respectively.
History[]
- 8 June 1979: The Transport Department invited public tenders for the right to operate 33 new GMB routes in 16 groups, which were grouped with Route 1 in the same group.[1]
- 18 November 1979: Route 2 entered service, running between Sai Kung (Yi Chun Street) and Ho Chung at that time.
- 21 October 1986: Sai Kung terminus was relocated to the newly built minibus terminus at Fuk Man Road.
- 9 December 1987: Sai Kung terminus was relocated to L7 road (i.e. Nin Chun Street).
- 19 April 1991: Sai Kung terminus was relocated to Man Nin Street.[2]
- 7 January 2001: Sai Kung terminus was relocated back to Yi Chun Street to tie in with the Transport Department's pilot pedestrianisation scheme at Man Nin Street and Market Street in Sai Kung.[3]
- 22 January 2001: A new special trip between Sai Kung (Yi Chun Street) and Kai Ham was introduced.
- 1 May 2001: Octopus fare payment was accepted.
- From 10am onwards on 9 January 2002: Rerouted via Hiram's Highway southbound, roundabout, Hiram's Highway northbound to Ho Chung Road in the direction of Ho Chung and Kai Ham as vehicles can no longer turn right from Hiram's Highway southbound into Ho Chung Road westbound.
- 25 June 2021: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route.[4]

Minibus deployments[]
According to the Schedule of Services of the Transport Department (TD), a total of four minibuses are required to serve this route, with a total carrying capacity of not less than 96 passengers in each direction during the peakiest hour.
Current this route and 1 series, Route 7 and 9 series have a total of 52 Toyota Coaster minibuses, included 7 of 16-seater minibuses and 45 of 19-seater minibuses. All vehicles have their own number and can support the New Territories Route 109M when necessary.
8 Golden Dragon XML6701J18 minibuses were once deployed on these routes, however all of which were transferred to other services or retired from August 2021 to September 2023.

According to the District Council papers, the ridership of this route is as follows:
- 2021: The last minibus to Kai Ham and Sai Kung Yi Chun Street had seven and three passengers respectively, and no passenger was left behind along the route.[5]
