Ridership[]

This route is the only public transport between Southeast Tuen Mun and Tsing Yi, and the demand for travelling between the two places is very high. In addition, travelling via the Ting Kau Bridge Express is more direct than taking Route 61M and interchanging to Route 68A, so the patronage is consistently high and often full. However, due to frequent lost trips, minibuses are often full by the time they depart from the terminus and passengers are unable to board the minibuses at the stops along the way. Even with a 6.7% fare increase in 2016, the quality of service has not improved, which has been criticised and this was even reported by the media.[12] The situation has only improved with the introduction of a large number of 19-seat minibuses on this route from 2020 onwards to replace the old 16-seat minibuses and an increase in the number of vehicles used.
