The New Territories Green Minibus (GMB) Route 112M is operated by Sure Ascent International Investment Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 16047C). It runs between MTR LOHAS Park Station and Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate.

History[]

  • 18 December 2009: The Transport Department invited open tenders of the operating rights for a total of 5 green minibus routes in a group of 4, to which this route was included among them; however, the route eventually failed to commence service. [1]
  • 16 July 2010: The Transport Department invited open tenders of the operating rights for two new groups of GMB routes, among which this route was grouped together with Route 112S. [2]
  • 14 February 2011: Route 112M entered service, running between MTR LOHAS Park Station and Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate (Chun Cheong Street). [3]
  • 17 June 2012: Detoured via LOHAS Park (Sunrise Boulevard) for LOHAS Park MTR Station direction (except departures between 17:00-20:00); an additional section fare of $3.0 from Sunset Boulevard to LOHAS Park MTR Station was introduced with a promotional concession of $2.5 for the section fare until 16 September 2012.   • 24 May 2014: Service was extended to Shek Kok Road (The Beaumont), with an additional section fare between the stop and LOHAS Park MTR Station introduced. [5]
  • 15 May 2015: A $0.5 Adult Octopus interchange concession with MTR was introduced. [6]
  • 1 July 2017: Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate terminus was relocated to Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate Public Transport Interchange, and at the same time introducing short-working special trips between LOHAS Park MTR Station and The Beaumont. [7]
  • Early 2018: The Transport Department independently numbered the shortworking trips to and from the Beaumont as Route 112A, however the operator has been using it unilaterally since 2017. [8]
  • 1 March 2018: Except Adult Octopus cards, all other Octopus cards were eligible to enjoy the $0.3 MTR interchange concession. [9]
  • 31 March 2020: LOHAS Park Station terminus was relocated to the newly completed covered public transport interchange. [10]
  • 28 June 2022: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced on this route. [11]

  • Elderly persons aged 65 or above using Elderly Octopus or Personalised Octopus cards, Hong Kong residents aged 60 to 64 using JoyYou Card, and eligible persons with disabilities using Personalised Octopus cards with"Persons with Disabilities Status" can enjoy a flat fare of $2.0 per journey under the Concessionary Fare.
  • Passengers are required to tender exact fare in cash or by Octopus card upon boarding. No change will be given.

Notes:
  • Passengers must use the same Octopus Card to pay the fare for both the minibus and MTR to enjoy the above-mentioned interchange concession.
  • Passengers can enjoy the above transfer discount at any MTR station / minibus stop that connects to the second leg of the route.
  • The MTR ride does not apply to Light Rail, Airport Express, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus services.
  • The MTR interchange concession only applies to paid rides. Unless otherwise specified, passengers using the Monthly Pass Enhanced Version or Disneyland Line Monthly Ticket (including those who have paid First Class Supplementary Fare) cannot enjoy this concession when taking the MTR at designated stations; however, if Enhanced Monthly Pass or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Ticket holders take paid rides outside the designated stations, the concession still applies.
  • If passengers have just used the same Octopus Card for the Airport Express "Free MTR Connection," they cannot simultaneously enjoy the MTR interchange concession.
  • If both "MTR Fare Saver" and "MTR Interchange Concession" are applicable, passengers can only enjoy one of the higher discounts.
  • Higher concession amounts are available for certain GMB routes at designated MTR stations.

Ridership[]

According to the District Council and Legislative Council documents, the ridership of this route is as follows:

  • 2012: Only a few dozen passenger trips were recorded per day.[12]
  • 2019: The daily patronage of the route group to which it belongs is 3,700. [13]

Related incidents[]

  • 10 August 2012: The rear end of a Toyota Coaster (LU7890) heading towards LOHAS Park suddenly caught fire while passing through Lohas Park Road, and almost the whole of the minibus was burnt entirely.
