The North Lantau Bus Route 37M is operated by New Lantao Bus (NLB). It runs circular between Ying Tung Estate and Tung Chung Station Bus Terminus, via The Visionary and Ying Hei Road, which mainly provides a direct service to Tung Chung Town Centre and the MTR to the residents of the public housing estate - Ying Tung Estate, as well as private residential housings - The Visionary and Century Link, all located in Tung Chung North.
This route belongs to a special service to Route 37 that operates only during peak hours on Monday to Friday school days, making it a rare example for a main route to operate only during peak hours while a branch route to provide whole-day services.[Remark 1]
History[]
In view of the completion of multiple residential projects in Tung Chung North, NLB proposed in its 2015-2016 Bus Route Planning Programme to introduce an auxiliary route 37M in the fourth quarter of 2015, operating circular between Tung Chung Area 56 and Tung Chung MTR Station, with five single-decker buses deployed.
Ying Tung Estate is located on the east side of Ying Tung Road in Tung Chung Area 56 and was expected to be completed by the end of 2016. The intake for The Visionary, a private residential complex situated on the west side of Ying Tung Road in Tung Chung Area 55B, began in March, prompting NLB to launch this route to serve the residents of the complex.
