The MTR Bus (Northwest New Territories) Route K75A runs circular between Tin Shui Wai Station and Hung Shui Kiu.
Unlike Route K75P, Route K75A runs clockwise through Hung Fuk Estate, LR Hung Shui Kiu Stop and Ha Tsuen; despite a small section of Castle Peak Road - Hung Shui Kiu westbound and Tin Ha Road northbound where this route passes through is within the Tuen Mun District, no stops are made there and therefore it belongs to an intra-district route.
History[]
After MTR implemented the rerouting of Routes K75 and K75P on 16 August 2015, Yuen Long District Council members expressed their views on the extension of the journey time for residents in the Tin Ha Road area to Tin Shui Wai Station, and were also concerned about the waiting time for buses for residents in the Tin Ha Road area after the occupation of Hung Fuk Estate, which led to the introduction of this route by MTR.[1][2][3][4]
Route change history[]
- 27 March 2016: Route K75A entered service.[5][6]
- 29 May 2016: Due to the construction works of HOS Ping Yan Court, the public transport interchange at Kiu Cheong Road East had to be closed permanently. All trips were changed to terminate at Tin Shing Court and the starting point was relocated to Ping Ha Road northbound near Kiu Fat Street.[7]
- 2 October 2018: In-situ reprovisioning of Tin Shui Wai Station PTI was completed and the terminus of this route was relocated there with Tin Shing Court reverting to an intermediate stop on the same day.[8]
- 12 June 2019: Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) Enquiry System was added to this route.[9][10]

Ridership[]
This route from Tin Shui Wai Station to Tin Ha Road (Hung Shui Kiu Tin Sam Road) overlapped with New Territories GMB Route 619, resulting in a very low patronage for both routes, while Ha Tsuen to Tin Shui Wai Station overlapped with KMB Route 53, which operates at a similar frequency but with a wider service area, resulting in a limited increase in the patronage of this route.
In view of this, MTR has once planned to reduce the service of this route by only operating it during the morning peak hours from Monday to Friday, and replacing it with Route 619 for the rest of the day. However, the plan was shelved as the GMB operator could not reach a consensus with MTR on the restructuring proposal and interchange concessions, and the GMB route also ceased operation on 17 June 2018.
- 2021: The average occupancy rate was about 10% between 5-8pm towards Hung Shui Kiu.[11]
