The MTR Bus (Northwest New Territories) Route K51A runs between Fu Tai and So Kwun Wat via Lingnan University, MTR Siu Hong Station, San Hui, MTR Tuen Mun Station, Tuen Mun Town Centre, Chi Lok Fa Yuen and Sam Shing Estate.

Commencing background[]
MTR submitted a paper to the Traffic and Transport Committee of the Tuen Mun District Council in August 2022, pointing out that the passenger demand at So Kwun Wat has increased and in order to provide greater convenience to the residents, it is proposed to add a new route, K51A, between So Kwun Wat and Fu Tai, and to form a joint headway with Route K53 to carry local residents to and from Tuen Mun Town Centre, MTR Tuen Mun Station, and to facilitate interchanges to Tuen Ma Line and Light Rail.[1]
At the meeting, some Members queried that as the new route and Route K53 would also pass through Chi Lok Fa Yuen, and there was a possibility that both routes would run at So Kwun Wat at the same time, the new route would not be able to effectively improve the traffic condition at So Kwun Wat, and requested that the journey time between So Kwun Wat and the Town Centre should be shortened. The Transport Department pointed out that the new route would not be able to detour via Sam Shing as Route K53 does, while the MTR said that it would closely monitor passenger demand after the commencement of the new route, and would arrange for further direct trips if necessary.[2]
