The North Lantau Shuttle Bus Route S64C is operated by Long Win Bus (LWB) and belongs to a special departure of Route S64. It operates only during morning and afternoon peak hours, with different routings during these two service hours:

  • Everyday morning peak hour services run circular between Tung Chung (Yat Tung Estate) and Airport Cargo Area, via Tung Chung Station, Cathay Pacific City, Catering Road West, Catering Road East;
  • Monday to Saturday afternoon peak hour services run one-way from HACTL to Tung Chung (Yat Tung Estate).

History[]

Route S64 was extended to Yat Tung Estate in 2001, and in the following year, it was merged with Route S63 which was cancelled due to insufficient patronage (Route S63 was merged with Route S62 when the Airport Shuttle Bus Routes were reorganised on 20 June 1999). Since then, many residents of Yat Tung Estate have complained that the route is too circuitous and the travelling time was too long on the Airport Island, making it difficult for residents to arrive at different parts of the Airport Island for work in the morning, and it took them at least 30 minutes to travel to and from the Airport.

After repeated lobbying by residents and local District Council members, the Transport Department and LWB proposed at the Islands District Council Traffic and Transport Committee meeting on 19 May 2014 to study the proposal of splitting Route S64 into two routes, namely Yat Tung Estate to/from theAirport Cargo Area, the Catering Area and the Passenger Terminal Building, so as to reduce the travelling time.[1] The final proposal was to split Route S64 into two routes, S64C and S64X, during the morning peak hours every day, with the former travelling from Yat Tung Estate to and from Tung Chung Station, Cathay City, the Airport Cargo Area and the Catering Area, and the latter travelling from Yat Tung Estate to and from Cathay City, the Catering Area and the Airport Passenger Terminal Building in a circular manner, without entering Tung Chung Station.[2]

Route Change History[]

  • 22 November 2014: Route S64C commenced service, replacing the existing morning peak hour and afternoon special departures of Route S64 from SuperTerminal One at Chun Wan Road.[3][4]
  • 7 February 2015: The departure at 17:57 detouring via Tung Chung New Development Ferry Pier was changed to Mondays to Fridays only and no service on Saturdays was provided.
  • 21 March 2015: Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) Enquiry System was introduced on this route. [5]
  • 20 April 2015: Diverted via Mei Tung Street when accessing the Tung Chung Station Bus Terminus as the old exit of the terminus was closed.
  • 18 June 2016: The 17:57 departure from Mondays to Fridays via Tung Chung New Development Ferry Pier was cancelled due to low patronage.[6]
  • 27 April 2019: "Tung Chung Cable Car Terminal" bus stop at Tat Tung Road was cancelled for both directions.[7]
