The North Lantau External Bus Route E36S is operated by Long Win Bus (LWB). It runs between Yuen Long (Ma Wang Road) and Airport (Ground Transportation Centre) , via Castle Peak Road - Yuen Long, Tsing Long Highway, Lantau Link, North Lantau Highway, and via Tung Chung Town Centre and Airport Logistics Area. It only provides outbound services from Monday to Saturday early morning to morning peak hours, and return services during afternoon peak hours.
The routing and stop arrangements of this route are similar to those of the cancelled Route E34B, except not stopping at the "Terminal 1" stop on Cheong Hong Road for Airport direction.
History[]
Introducing background[]
After Route E34B was renamed as Route E36 and rerouted via Tuen Mun Chek Lap Kok Tunnel, the traffic jams and frequent accidents on Yuen Long Highway and Tuen Mun Road has increased the overall travel time even though this action shortened the travelling distance, leading the Yuen Long District Council to demand Route E36 to revert its original routing via Tai Lam Tunnel during peak hours. [1][2] Less than a month later, the Transport Department began to conduct a research with LWB for the possibility for special trips of Route E36 to reroute via Tai Lam Tunnel, and formally proposed to the Yuen Long District Council in late July of the same year to introduce the new route E36S. Except not stopping at Cheong Hong Road outside "Terminal 1" for Airport direction, the route was roughly similar to that of E34B; however, services to the airport and to Yuen Long are only available in the early morning and morning and afternoon peak hours of Monday to Saturday. - 30 August 2021 : Route E36S entered service to replace the special trips of Route E36 travelling between YOHO Mall I and Airport. [7][8]
- 1 November 2023: Octopus interchange concessions with NLB Route 36 was introduced.[9]
