Problems arisen[]

After the renaming of Route E34B to Route E36 and its diversion to Tuen Mun Chek Lap Kok Tunnel, even though the distance was reduced as a result of the change, there were frequent traffic congestion on Yuen Long Highway and Tuen Mun Road during peak hours and traffic accidents along the routes, which resulted in an increase in the overall travelling time, and led to a request from Yuen Long District to revert to the operation of the route via the Tai Lam Tunnel during peak hours and even all the trips during the same period.[11] Less than a month later, the Transport Department (TD) started to explore with LWB the possibility of reverting special trips of this route to go through the Tai Lam Tunnel[12] and formally proposed to the Yuen Long District Council in late July of the same year to introduce Route E36S, which was more or less the same as Route E34B, except that it only provided services to the Airport and Yuen Long during the early morning and morning and afternoon peak hours from Mondays to Saturdays, and it was introduced on 30 August of the same year.
