The North Lantau External Bus Route E32A is operated by Long Win Bus (LWB). It runs between Tung Chung Development Pier and Kwai Fong (South), passing through Lantau Link, Tsing Yi North Coastal Road and Tsing Tsuen Bridge after Caribbean Coast, Ying Tung Estate and Yu Nga Court to and from Tsuen Wan, Tai Wo Hau and Kwai Hing.

Along with Routes E31 and E32, this route is the cheapest North Lantau External Route.

History[]

Commencing background[]

"The Visionary" and "Century Link", private housing estates located in Tung Chung North, have been occupied since the first quarter of 2016. To cope with the new passenger demand, the Transport Department (TD) and Long Win Bus Company Limited (LWB) have proposed in the 2016-2017 Bus Route Planning Programme that Route E32 would pass through Tung Chung Town Centre and then make a whole-day detour via Tung Chung North, and return to the North Lantau Highway and its original routeing to Kwai Fong Station. However, the frequency of Route E32 is insufficient to meet passenger demand, and some buses are even fully loaded before arriving at Tsing Yi or Tung Chung. Some District Council members are dissatisfied with the proposal, considering that it would not only lengthen the journey time, but also add to the burden of the route.

As the occupation of Ying Tung Estate in Area 56, Tung Chung North, would commence in the first quarter of 2017, the Transport Department (TD) and Long Win Bus Company Limited (LWB) submitted a paper to the Islands District Council in November 2016 on the enhancement of bus services in Tung Chung North, with a view to shelving the proposal to detour Route E32 via Tung Chung North, and introducing Route E32A, which would run between Tsuen Wan and Kwai Fong (not stopping at Tsing Yi) via Tsing Yi North Coastal Road, Tsing Tsuen Bridge and Tsuen Wan Road, so as to cater for the traffic demand of the estate upon its occupation.[1]

Route change history[]

  • 17 September 2017: A new stop was added at "Century Link" on Ying Hei Road towards Tung Chung Development Pier.[4]

[10]
  • 28 December 2020: Temporarily extended to Tung Chung Cable Car Terminal (Tung Chung bound)/Tung Chung Crescent (from Tung Chung) to facilitate passengers travelling between Tung Chung North and Tuen Mun after the diversion of Routes E33 and E33P to Tuen Mun Chek Lap Kok Tunnel Road as an interim arrangement before the commissioning of the new route E36A for interchanging to the new route via Tung Chung North.[11]
  • 8 May 2021: Octopus interchange concessions with NLB Routes 3M, 11 and 23 were introduced.[12][13] It was originally a 6-month trial, but was later furthered till 31 October 2024.[14][15]

    • Resumed using Tung Chung Development Pier as the terminus and cancelled the interchange concessions with all A/E routes serving Northwest New Territories, which was replaced by the interchange concession with Route E36A and its interchanges with other routes calling at Tuen Mun Chek Lap Kok Tunnel Interchange, which were introduced on the same day;
    • A new stop was added at Yu Nga Court, Ying Hei Road for Tung Chung direction, with the section fare originally introduced from Century Link station advanced to the stop.
