The Airbus Route A37 is operated by Long Win Bus (LWB). It runs between Long Ping Station and Airport (Ground Transportation Centre), via Long Ping Estate, Hong Kong Wetland Park, Tin Shui Wai Town Centre, Tin Tsz Estate and Shek Po Tsuen, and connects to and from the HZMB Hong Kong Port and the Hong Kong International Airport via Tuen Mun Chek Lap Kok Tunnel Road.
Route A37 runs through the southern and northern parts of Tin Shui Wai, and therefore the electronic destination sign for return direction contains the display "Tin Shui Wai".
History[]
Background of launching[]
In response to the occupation of Hung Fuk Estate in Hung Shui Kiu, Route A36 was launched in 2015 to provide express service to and from the airport for residents of Hung Shui Kiu and Yuen Long, and at the same time, to divert the huge passenger volume of Route E34B. In addition, the demand for travelling between Tin Shui Wai and the airport had increased, and Route E34A had to detour via Tung Chung and the Airport Logistics Area, making the journey quite time-consuming.
In view of this, the Transport Department (TD) and LWB proposed in the 2016-2017 Bus Route Planning Programme to introduce Route A37, a whole-day express service between Hung Shui Kiu and the Airport and via Tin Shui Wai, with an hourly frequency at the initial stage of operation, which will be further increased to half-hourly depending on the change in patronage; meanwhile, Route A36 would also be upgraded to a whole-day service and would be shortened to Long Ping Station, so as to focus on serving the passengers of Yuen Long Town.
In June 2016, TD and LWB submitted a revised proposal, proposing that Route A37 should operate directly every half-hour upon its commencement, and commence service on 25 July [1][2][3]. However, the changes to Route A36, which were originally scheduled to be implemented at the same time, were deferred to 4 August, which meant that the bus terminus at Hung Shui Kiu (Hung Yuen Road) was used as a point of departure and arrival for two airport bus routes at the same time during the 10-day period.
