Kwok Chung Motor Car Limited (國松汽車有限公司 [Remark 1][Remark 2], abbreviated as Kwok Chung (國松)) is a green minibus operator. Its parent company, Kwok Chung Holdings Limited (國松集團有限公司), is a taxi company based in Mong Kok and operates taxi and minibus businesses.

At present, Kwok Chung's main service area is Sha Tin District, operating four green minibus routes, including one overnight route, while another subsidiary, Jetwide Limited (集偉有限公司 [Remark 3][Remark 4]), operates three GMB routes in Yau Tsim Mong District.

The group’s hotline number is 2396 0898, and its office is located at Blocks A-B, G/F, 67 Tong Mi Road, Mong Kok, Kowloon.[1]

History[]

Kwok Chung Motor Car is a car dealership based in Mong Kok. It started operating Kowloon GMB Routes 17K and 21K (both have been cancelled) in 1991. Mong Kok, Tai Kok Tsui, and Yau Ma Tei. [2]

In 1992, the Transport Department invited tenders for four green minibus routes in Sha Tin District, and Kwok Chung Motor Car won the right to operate them. The route numbers were 803, 804, 805S, and 806M. Since then, Kwok Chung Motor Car has started to operate green minibus services in Sha Tin District. In 1999, the auxiliary route 803A of 803 was put into service during peak hours on weekdays (but it has always been wired and car-free). Route 806M was handed over to Aberdeen Maxicab (Now AMS Public Transport) in 1994, but was suspended in 2003 due to operating difficulties.

In order to cooperate with the expansion of Ma On Shan New Town, the Transport Department invited tenders for a green minibus route from Ma On Shan to Sha Tin Central. Kwok Chung obtained the operating rights in the name of "Champion Legends Company Limited". The route number Designated as 810, it was put into service in 1999.

In 2003, the government invited tenders for two Yau Tsim Mong District green minibus routes, and Kwok Chung obtained the operating rights in the name of "Jetwide Limited", namely 77M and 78, with West Kowloon Reclamation Area and Tsim Sha Tsui as the main service areas.

At the end of 2004, in order to cooperate with the opening of the KCR Ma On Shan Rail, Route 803K was put into service.

Due to the operating difficulties of Kowloon GMB Route 21K, Kwo Chung Motor Car gave up operating the route in 2009 and was taken over by Honest Profit, which was later discontinued in 2012.

In October 2020, 803M and 804A were put into service in the form of a trial respectively.

On 29 September 2024, following the merger of Passenger Service Licences, Routes 810 and 810A under Champion Legends were changed to operate by its parent company under the PSL number 12913C. Currently, Kwok Chung Motor Car operates 4 green minibus routes, and its subsidiary Jetwide operate 3 routes.

Major accidents involved in its routes[]

The minibuses owned by Kwok Chung were involved in five fatal car accidents between 2010 and 2011, which attracted the attention of the Transport Department.[6]

  • 1 March 2010: A minibus (EF9193) traveling on route 803 hit and killed one person and injured four others at a bus stop opposite Bayshore Towers in Ma On Shan.[7][8]
  • 20 August 2011: A minibus (PD8042) traveling on route 803K hit and killed a motorcyclist on Che Kung Miu Road in Sha Tin towards Tai Wai.[9][10][11][12]
  • 5 September 2011: A minibus (MA7776) traveling on Route 803 hit and killed a man who was riding a bicycle to fishing during rainy weather at the intersection of Sha Kok Street near Tai Chung Kiu Road at about 9 a.m.[13]
  • 8 September 2011: A minibus on Route 803 (FN8318) hit and killed a 40-year-old woman riding a bicycle on A Kung Kok Street in Ma On Shan at around 8 a.m. This was the second fatal traffic accident on this route in four days.[14]
  • 13 June 2021: A minibus (VD1927) traveling on Route 803 was driving along Tai Chung Kiu Road near the Garden Rivera intersection when it was hit by a private car with flashing lights and overturned. The minibus driver died of his injuries and seven others were injured.
