Kowloon Station Public Transport Interchange (九龍站公共運輸交匯處) is located in the Private Residential Complex and the base of Elements shopping centre, Kowloon Station Commercial and Residential Area, Yau Tsim Mong District, Kowloon, adjacent to the Western Harbour Crossing Toll Plaza, West Kowloon Cultural District, and International Commerce Centre, Hong Kong West Kowloon Station of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, etc.
There is a bus terminus, green minibus (GMB) terminus, Airport Express Shuttle Bus terminus (disused), resident bus terminus, cross-boundary coach terminus and urban taxi stand at the public transport interchange, which are convenient for passengers to connect to MTR Tung Chung Line, and there is also a canteen for staff. However, the various parts of the public transport interchange are not connected to each other, and each has an independent passageway to connect to the station loop:
- The franchised bus terminus (Coordinates: 22.3047N, 114.1630E; location see map: ) is located under Towers 1 to 5 and the Club House of The Waterfront;
- The GMB terminus (Coordinates: 22.3054N, 114.1632E; location see map: ) is located under Towers 6 and 7 of The Waterfront.
- Residents' Bus Terminus (Coordinates: 22.3052N, 114.1625E; location see map: ) is located under Elements Mall, outside Exit A of Kowloon Station.
- The Cross-boundary Coach Terminus (Coordinates: 22.3041N, 114.1628E; location see map: ) is located under The Arch.
- The Airport Express Shuttle Bus Stop (Coordinates: 22.3040N, 114.1617E; location see map: ) is located under Elements Shopping Center, outside Kowloon Station Exit B, and there is a separate article for it.
Whether it is a bus or a pedestrian, it is quite inconvenient to go to the public interchange from the road. Buses must U-turn at Nga Cheung Road to enter and exit the bus terminus, and then go to and from the interchange along the Station Perimeter Road. There is an escalator between the bus terminus and the minibus terminus to connect Elements, and each part of the interchange is equipped with independent pedestrian passages connecting Kowloon Station and Elements. In fact, the overall design of the public transport interchange is poor, the piles are densely covered, and the waiting environment at the bus terminus is extremely stuffy. It is also the best way for pedestrians to enter and exit the interchange.
History[]
In response to the completion of the Kowloon Station of the Airport Express, the Kowloon Station Public Transport Interchange (then known as the "Kowloon Station Bus Terminus" (MTR Kowloon Station Bus Terminus)[1]) was opened on 22 June 1998, and received several routes terminating at Jordan Road Ferry Bus Terminus and nearby on-street bus terminus which alleviated the congestion conditions at these termini. At that time, there is a driveway linking to the intersection with Lin Cheung Road and Wui Cheung Road to the eest of the terminus, but it was closed in 2011 and all buses must pass through Nga Cheung Road to enter and exit the terminus.
- 20 December 2009: With the permanent closure of Jordan (Wui Cheung Road) Bus Terminus, KMB Route 296D and Cross-Harbour Bus Route 110 were extended to this point.[2]
- 10 June 2012: KMB Route 270A was extended from this terminus to Tsim Sha Tsui East (Mody Road), and no longer passed through this stop. At the same time, the Kowloon Terminus of KMB Route 270P was moved to this stop to provide the original service from Sheung Shui to this stop. [3]
- 28 September 2012: KMB Route 215P was put into service, with this stop as the terminus.[4]
- 28 December 2013: Route 110 was changed to operate circular to and from Shau Kei Wan and Tsim Sha Tsui East (Mody Road), and so no longer passes through this stop.
- 28 December 2015: The Kowloon end of KMB Route 259B was shortened to Tsim Sha Tsui (Middle Road) and no longer used this stop.
- June 2016: KMB removed the term "Railway" (鐵路站) from the original stop name "Kowloon Railway Station B/T".
- May 2019: KMB renamed this stop "Kowloon Station Bus Terminus" (九龍站巴士總站).
