Hong Kong Buses Wiki

Kowloon Park Drive (九龍公園徑) is a road located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Yau Tsim Mong District. Its northern end is on Canton Road near China Hong Kong City, while the southern end is on Salisbury Road near the 1881 and the Hong Kong YMCA. It has a length of 640 metres and motor vehicles are allowed to travel both northbound and southbound.

History[]

Kowloon Park Drive is a relatively new street in the area west of Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. It was completed and opened to traffic in the 1970s and was gazetted on 25 July 1975[1], younger than other streets in the same area that had existed before the war.

Road structure[]

Kowloon Park Drive is built along the western edge of Kowloon Park. The section across Haiphong Road is a flyover, and the section between Peking Road and Salisbury Road is a surface road.

The government has set up a resident bus pick-up and drop-off points on southbound Kowloon Park Drive named Kowloon Park Drive Bus Terminus which is south of Peking Road. There are a large number of resident buses during peak hours on weekdays. They pick up and drop off passengers on this section, then follow Salisbury Road to Tsim Sha Tsui East, or take a U-turn to Middle Road and then go northbound along Kowloon Park Drive towards the New Territories.

Usage situation[]

Since the section of Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui is only one-way southbound, Franchised buses use the northbound section much more than the southbound section. Currently, there is a franchised bus route corridor that passes through southbound Kowloon Park Drive which has a stop. The only Citybus routes that run on this road are Citybus Routes 50 and 973.

In addition, there is a flyover on the northbound direction of Kowloon Park Drive connecting the northbound direction of Canton Road and Gateway Boulevard. However, most of the franchised buses and green minibus routes passing through Kowloon Park Drive northbound must pass through the above-ground traffic lanes and stop at China Hong Kong City, only green minibuses and the return trips of Citybus Route 20A pass through the stop.
