The Kowloon Green Minibus Route CX1, with the full name "CX1 Cultural Express" (CX1 文化專線), runs circular between Austin Station and the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and has special services extending to the West Kowloon Cultural District (West Gate) to provide shuttle services for tourists visiting the West Kowloon Cultural District.
This route is the first special minibus route in Hong Kong with a double-letter prefix in its number. "CX" is the abbreviation of "Cultural Express". This route is actually Route 26D operated by Kellis Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 9170C) and Route 74D operated by Max Power Green Minibus Company Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 12142C) with these two routes having the same routing. To facilitate passenger identification and travel, the two routes are jointly operated with this number from 2 July 2022.[1]
History[]
- 2 July 2022: To coincide with the opening of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, routes 26D and 74D were combined under the name of route CX1 [2]. However, due to the impact of tropical cyclone "Special Traffic Arrangements related to 2022 Tropical Cyclone" that day, the Hong Kong Palace Museum was closed for the entire day and was not open to the public [3] and therefore this change only took place on 3 July.
- 13 October 2023: Converted to a circular route with a number of changes: [4][5]
- Extended from Kowloon Station to Austin Station, replacing the existing "West Kowloon Circular Route" free shuttle bus service;
- Detoured via Cultural Drive (M+ Museum B1 Indoor Pick-up and Drop-off Area);
- Special services detouring via the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority Project Office and West Kowloon Cultural District West Gate were introduced;
- Service hours were extended, departing from Austin Station from 09:00 to 20:30.
