The Kowloon Green Minibus Route 82 is operated by Leung Yick Transport Limited (兩益運輸有限公司) (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 18466C). It runs between Caritas Mother Teresa School and Kai Tak, serving MTR Choi Hung Station and San Po Kong (Prince Edward Road East) for the outbound trip, and serving only Kai San Road and Kwun Tong Road for the inbound trip.

History[]

Choi Hing Court is near by New Clear Water Bay Road, where residents can take multiple bus and minibus routes by walking to Pak Hung House bus stop; Choi Hing Road also has KMB Route 9 heading to Wong Tai Sin and Yau Tsim Mong District or Kowloon GMB Routes 83A and 83M to provide short distance shuttle service to MTR Choi Hung Station. While the then-district councilor Chan Chun Kit said that the minibus routes served multiple housing estates and the passenger capacity reached near saturation with frequent full minibuses, hence urged the Transport Department to use the empty minibus stops to enhance transportation facilities.[1]

The Transport Department submitted the consultation document to Kwun Tong District Council in May 2019 planning to operate the circular route running between Choi Hing Court and Kai Tak. At that time the suggested routing after left-turning from Prince Edward Road East to Concorde Road, the route would return via Kai San Road and omit Concorde Road westbound [2]. However, the route was changed to a bidirectional route with termini at both sides during its commencement.

  • 4 July 2019: The Transport Department invited public tenders for 5 groups of 12 new green minibus (GMB) routes, this route was tendered individually. [3]
  • 1 November 2020: Route 82 entered service.[4]
  • 25 June 2021: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route. [5]
  • 25 February 2024: Kai Tak Terminus was relocated from Concorde Road access to the newly built Kai Tak Public Transport Interchange. [6]
  • 8 July 2024: [7]
    • The terminus was extended from Choi Hing Court to Caritas Mother Teresa School, with detours via Choi Hing Court for both directions, with the arrangement implemented only from 08:00 to 18:00 for the first week;
    • A special trip running between 07:00 and 09:00 from Choi Hing Court to Ping Shek Public Transport Interchange was launched.
