Kowloon GMB Route 79S

The Kowloon Green Minibus Route 79S is operated by Honest Profit Corporation Limited (誠利有限公司)(Passenger Service Licence No. 11071C) , is the special trip of Route 79M. It runs circular between Kingsford Terrace and Diamond Hill Station, via Hammer Hill Road, it serves only Mondays to Saturdays peak hours, providing feeder services to the housing estates along King Tung Street and Hammer Hill Road to the MTR{Tuen Ma Line or Kwun Tong Line.

Though having the number "79" with Routes 79K and 79W and the same operator, the service areas are unrelated to this route.

All vehicles with rollsigns running on Route 79S will use that of Route 79M and identified by a paper sign on the front of the vehicle.

  • Elderly persons aged 65 or above using Elderly Octopus or Personalised Octopus cards, Hong Kong residents aged 60 to 64 using JoyYou Card, and eligible persons with disabilities using Personalised Octopus cards with"Persons with Disabilities Status" can enjoy a flat fare of $2.0 per journey under the Concessionary Fare.
  • Passengers are required to tender exact fare in cash or by Octopus card upon boarding. No change will be given.
  • This route accepts payments with AlipayHK "EasyGo", but interchange concessions and the $2.0 flat fare per trip are not entitled with this payment method.

Notes:
  • Passengers must use the same Octopus Card to pay the fare for both the minibus and MTR to enjoy the above-mentioned interchange concession.
  • Passengers can enjoy the above interchange concession at any MTR station / minibus stop that connects to the second leg of the route.
  • The MTR ride does not apply to Light Rail, Airport Express, High Speed Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus services.
  • The MTR interchange concession only applies to paid rides. Unless otherwise specified, passengers using the Monthly Pass Enhanced or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Pass (including those who have paid First Class Supplementary Fare) cannot enjoy this concession when taking the MTR at designated stations; however, if Enhanced Monthly Pass or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Ticket holders take paid rides outside the designated stations, the concession still applies.
  • If passengers have just used the same Octopus Card for the Airport Express "Free MTR Connection," they cannot simultaneously enjoy the MTR interchange concession.
  • If both "MTR Fare Saver" and "MTR Interchange Concession" are applicable, passengers can only enjoy one of the higher discounts.
  • Higher concession amounts are available for certain GMB routes at designated MTR stations.

Minibus deployments[]

According to the Transport Department's "Schedule of Service", this route requires a total of 5 minibuses to provide service, of which 3 minibuses are 16-seater. The total passenger capacity in each direction during the peak hour is not less than 240.

Currently, Kowloon Routes 79K, 79M and 79S operated under Honest Profit Corporation have a total of 24 Toyota Coaster minibuses. Including 15 16-seater minibuses and 9 19-seater minibuses. Some minibuses can support on Route 616S during overnight period.

Via: King Tung Street, Hammer Hill Road, Hung Cheung Road, Po Kong Village Road, Choi Hung Road, Hammer Hill Road and King Tung Street

During traffic jams or special traffic diversions on Lung Cheung Road, the Sheung Yuen Street will be the return point of the Circular Route.

Ridership[]

It is faster to board on this route to Diamond Hill Station to transfer to MTR than to take Route 79M to Choi Hung Road or Wong Tai Sin, so it has more patronage on Mondays to Fridays than Route 79M, and the frequency is more frequent, but the patronage on Saturdays is average. The District Council has also requested this route to be upgraded to a whole-day service.[11]
