Ridership[]

At the beginning of this route, there was only one housing estate - Sun Lai Garden along King Tung Street, and the passenger capacity was low. Until Kingsford Terrace and King Hin Court were occupied in 2007 and 2008 respectively, the passenger capacity increased rapidly, and the operator enhanced the number of vehicles and headway on a number of occasions. The District Council has requested that the AM special trips to Diamond Hill Station (i.e. Route 79S) be upgraded to a whole-day service in order to divert the huge passenger volume of this route.[17]
