The Kowloon Green Minibus Route 69 is operated by Smart Champion Investments Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 12108C) under Min Kee Motors. It runs between Laguna City and Kowloon City (Lion Rock Road).
The service area of Route 69 is narrower than its supplementary route 69A, and the fare is lower. Although the official information shows that Route 69 still provides whole-day two-way service, in fact, it no longer operated full day by the fifth wave of the novel coronavirus pandemic in 2022, and only provided a few main route services in the morning peak hours of weekdays, as well as short-dworking special services on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays; the signage on this route has also been obscured, and only the information on Route 69A and the special services are displayed.[1][2]
History[]
- December 1995: The Transport Department launched an open tender for 12 groups of 17 green minibus (GMB) routes, including Route 69. [3]
- 1 April, 1997: Route 69 entered service, passing through the Kwun Tong Bypass and Kai Tak Airport Passenger Terminal on its return journey.
- 6 July, 1998: Due to the relocation of the airport to Chek Lap Kok, both directions no longer detoured via the Kai Tak Airport Passenger Terminal.
- 19 January 2020: A special trip between Laguna City and Kowloon Bay (Zero Carbon Building) on every Saturday, Sunday and public holidays was launched. [4]
- 28 June 2022: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route. [5]
