The Kowloon Green Minibus (GMB) Route 46 is operated by Fonsilk Investment Company Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 9342C). It runs between Richland Gardens and Tai Kok Tsui (Island Harbourview), via Kai Yip Estate, San Po Kong (Prince Edward East), Kowloon City, Prince Edward Road West (→)/Argyle Street (←) and Mong Kok.

History[]

  • 28 March 1998: The Transport Department invited opened tenders for a total of 19 green minibus (GMB) routes in a set of 15, in which this route was among one of them[1][2] to connect with the Tung Chung Line that was about to commence service.[3]
  • 21 January 1999: Route 46 entered service, running between Richland Garden and Olympic Station.[4]
  • Mid-2000: Tai Kok Tsui Terminus was relocated to Hoi Fai Road Island Harbourview.
  • 6 January 2008: Tai Kok Tsui Terminus was relocated to Tai Kok Tsui (Island Harbourview) Public Transport Interchange.[5]
  • 28 September 2013: Rerouted via Hoi Fai Road (The Long Beach) for Tai Kok Tsui direction. [6]
  • 28 June 2022: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route. [7]

  • Elderly persons aged 65 or above using Elderly Octopus or Personalised Octopus cards, Hong Kong residents aged 60 to 64 using JoyYou Card, and eligible persons with disabilities using Personalised Octopus cards with"Persons with Disabilities Status" can enjoy a flat fare of $2.0 per journey under the Concessionary Fare Scheme.
  • Passengers are required to tender exact fare in cash or by Octopus card upon boarding. No change will be given.
  • Passengers who wish to pay two-way section fares by Octopus card should notify the driver to adjust the fare processor.

  • Passengers must use the same Octopus Card to pay the fare for both the minibus and MTR to enjoy the above-mentioned interchange concession.
  • Passengers can enjoy the above transfer discount at any MTR station / minibus stop that connects to the second leg of the route.
  • The MTR ride does not apply to Light Rail, Airport Express, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus services.
  • The MTR interchange concession only applies to paid rides. Unless otherwise specified, passengers using the Monthly Pass Enhanced Version or Disneyland Line Monthly Ticket (including those who have paid First Class Supplementary Fare) cannot enjoy this concession when taking the MTR at designated stations; however, if Enhanced Monthly Pass or Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Ticket holders take paid rides outside the designated stations, the concession still applies.
  • If passengers have just used the same Octopus Card for the Airport Express "Free MTR Connection," they cannot simultaneously enjoy the MTR interchange concession.
  • If both "MTR Fare Saver" and "MTR Interchange Concession" are applicable, passengers can only enjoy one of the higher discounts.
  • Higher concession amounts are available for certain GMB routes at designated MTR stations.

Minibus deployments[]

According to the Transport Department's Schedule of Services, a total of 24 minibuses are required to serve this route. It has a total capacity of not less than 224 passengers in each direction during the peakiest hour.

This route actually use a total of 23 Toyota Coaster minibuses, include 18 of 16-seater minibuses and 5 of 19-seater minibuses. Some minibuses of this route can support Routes 103, 103M and 104 when necessary.
