The New Territories Sha Tin Racecourse Bus Route 887 is operated by Kowloon Motor Bus and runs after races at Sha Tin Racecourse one-way from Sha Tin Racecourse to Mong Kok (Park Avenue), using the Lion Rock Tunnel to head directly to Kowloon Tong, Mong Kok, and Tai Kok Tsui。
Once this route reaches Kowloon, it follows the routing of Route 72X.
History[]
- 7 October 1978: Route 887 entered service, running between Sha Tin Racecourse and Tai Kok Tsui Ferry on race days at Sha Tin Racecourse.
- 21 December 1979: Buses heading to Tai Kok Tsui Ferry were diverted via Mong Kok Road, Sai Yeung Choi Street before Argyle Street.
- 11 November 1984: In cooperation with the opening of Sha Tin Road, all trips were diverted via this road.
- 17 September 1988: All trips heading to Sha Tin Racecourse were diverted via Tai Po Road and Nam Cheong Street.
- 1 January 1995: This route was made into a one-way service to Tai Kok Tsui Ferry.
- 8 May 1995: Following all other Tai Kok Tsui Ferry routes, the terminus was moved to Tai Kok TsuiNew Reclamation Area Temporary Bus Terminus.
- 5 October 1995: In conjunction with the opening of the new road in the Tai Kok Tsui reclamation area, traffic will enter and exit the terminus via the Cherry Street Tunnel and the roundabout outside the temporary terminus.
- 15 August 1995: The terminus was moved to Island Harbourview.[1]
- 9 July 2000: The terminus was moved to Mong Kok (Park Avenue).[2]
- 27 August 2000: This route was diverted via Tai Kok Tsui Road and an additional stop at Cherry Street near the Olympic Station bus stop was added.[3]
- 3 September 2000: Upgraded to full air-conditioned service, but the fare was not increased, and was one of the last 3 Sha Tin Racecourse bus routes to be made air-conditioned.[Remark 1][4]
- 7 February 2020: Due to the special arrangements for Sha Tin Racecourse race day during the novel coronavirus pandemic, services were suspended from that day until 5 September 2021.[5][6]

According to the Schedule of Routes Order, if there is an emergency on Sha Tin Racecourse day, this route can provide special service between Sha Tin Racecourse and Kowloon Tong Station, but the above special service has never been implemented so far.[7][8]
