The New Territories Bus Route 69 is operated by Kowloon Motor Bus. It runs between Tin Shui Wai Town Centre and Yuen Long (Tak Yip Street), via Tin Yan Estate, Wetland Park Road, Yuen Long Main Road, with additional detours via Long Ping Estate for the return direction.
History[]
In response to property development and population growth in the Tung Tau Industrial Area, Yuen Long, and to accommodate the completion and occupation of Wetland Seasons Park and Wetland Seasons Bay in Tin Shui Wai North, the Transport Department proposed in the 2021-2022 Bus Route Planning Programme to introduce a new circular bus route operating between Tin Shui Wai (Wetland Park Road) and Yuen Long (Tak Yip Street). The route would run via Tin Tsz Road, Wang Tat Road/Long Ping Road, Po Yip Street and Lau Yip Street, which the operator would be selected through open tender.
In June 2022, the Transport Department stated that Citybus was the sole bidder at tender closing and the route was consequently awarded to Citybus for operation. However, Citybus subsequently relinquished the operation citing the pandemic and changing demand patterns.[1][2] The Transport Department subsequently revised the route to operate between Tin Shui Wai Town Centre and Yuen Long (Tak Yip Street), with both directions looping via Yuen Long Plaza and the operator was again selected through open tender.[3]
On 17 November of the same year, the Transport Department announced that Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) had secured the operating rights for this route,[4] designated as Route 69. The route alignment towards Tin Shui Wai was further revised, abandoning the original proposal to turn left from Wang Tat Road onto Fung Chi Road but instead rerouted via Wang Lok Street and Fuk Hi Street.
Route change history[]
- 18 December 2022: Route 69 entered service.[5][6]
- 24 July 2023: Detoured via Long Ping Estate Bus Terminus for Tin Shui Wai Town Centre direction.[7]
- 11 August 2025: Routing at Yuen Long Town was altered to expand the service area there:[8]
- For Yuen Long direction, the route was rerouted via Yuen Long On Lok Road and Po Yip Street after Castle Peak Road - Yuen Long to return to original routing; for Tin Shui Wai direction, the route was rerouted via Long Yip Street, Long Yat Road, Long Lok Road and Castle Peak Road - Yuen Long after Po Yip Street before returning to Kik Yeung Road and original routing.
- The stop at "Yuet Ping House Long Ping Estate" for Yuen Long direction was cancelled and was replaced by stops at "Tung Lok Street Yuen Long" and "Kuk Ting Street Yuen Long"; while stops at "Tai Kiu Tsuen Yuen Long", "Ping Cheong Path Yuen Long", "The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong and "Yuen Long Plaza" for Tin Shui Wai direction were cancelled and new stops were added at "Yau San Street Yuen Long", "Tai Tong Road Yuen Long" and "Hong Lok Road Yuen Long".
