The Kowloon Urban Bus Route 213S is operated by Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB). It runs circular between On Tat and Lam Tin Station, via Po Tat Estate and Tseung Kwan O Road. It provides service only during morning peak hours on Mondays to Fridays.
As a special trip of Route 213M, Route 213S was also put into service on the day when the main route was extended to On Tai Estate to ease the morning peak hour waiting crowd at On Tat Estate.
History[]
The first franchised bus route 213M serving the Anderson Road Development Area has commenced service since 4 June 2016 to tie in with the occupation of the first phase of On Tat Estate, and has been well received by residents of the estate. However, in the "Proposed Arrangements for the Provision of Public Transport Services for the Development of Public Housing at Anderson Road" issued by the Transport Department (TD) to the Traffic and Transport Committee of the Kwun Tong District Council as early as 8 January 2015, it has been stated that the termini of all bus and green minibus (GMB) routes (i.e. KMB routes 213M, 213X, 613, as well as GMB routes 89A and 89B) would be relocated to the northern Anderson Road Development Area (i.e. On Tai Estate) upon its occupation. [1]
On Tai Estate started to reserve flats in April 2017, and there are news on the Internet that the aforesaid extended route arrangement would be implemented shortly. Some residents of On Tat Estate were worried that the route extension would cause boarding difficulties on Route 213M. After discussion with KMB and the Transport Department, KMB decided to introduce a morning peak hour short-haul supplementary route 213S on the day of the extension of Route 213M, with the same routing as Route 213M before the extension to On Tat Estate.
Route Change History[]
- 29 June 2017: Route 213S entered service.
- 1 October 2018: The $0.6 interchange concession with MTR at Lam Tin Station ended. [2]
- 4 March 2022: Due to the fifth wave of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, service on this route was suspended until 11 April when limited service was resumed. [3][4]
