Hong Kong Polytechnic University Phase 8 (香港理工大學第八期) bus stop is located outside Block Z of Phase 8 of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on Chatham Road South in Yau Tsim Mong District, Kowloon.
The routes that set up stops here all run from Gascoigne Road East to the Cross-Harbour Tunnel on Hong Kong Island. After each route stops, it will turn to the Hong Chong Road Flyover ahead to the Cross-Harbour Tunnel Toll Plaza.
When the KMB Next Stop Announcement System Displays show this stop, because the Next Stop Announcement System Display doesn't have enough space to display the entire stop name, only "Polytechnic University Phase 8" is displayed.
History[]
The former bus stop was adjacent to KCR Ho Man Tin Livestock Station. KMB named this stop "Chatham Road North Livestock Depot" before May 2011, but the display screen of its bus stop announcement system was not large enough to display the entire depot name and thus only displayed "Livestock Depot Chatham Road" (漆咸道牲口站), which was later renamed "Livestock Depot" (牲口站). Citybus and New World First Bus before the resource consolidation respectively named this stop "Gascoigne Road, Chatham Road N" (加士居道，漆咸道北) and "KCRC Livestock Depot" or "Rail Livestock Station Ho Man Tin" (九廣鐵路牲口載運站); later the stop was renamed "Livestock Depot, Chatham Road North" (牲口站，漆咸道北).
In conjunction with the opening of the first phase of facilities in Block Z of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Phase 8 in 2013, KMB took the lead in changing the stop name to "Hong Kong Polytechnic University Phase 8" on 3 February. As for New World First Bus and Citybus, the stop names were not changed until March.

This stop is adjacent to Block Z of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, which is the former site of the defunct freight yard.
KMB has set up a "KMB Fare Saver" at Podium P/F, Shaw House (Block VA) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. KMB passengers using Adult and Student Octopus can enjoy $4.0 fare discount on their first KMB journey if they take their Octopus card at the concessionary fare machine within the same day (counting from 04:45:00 to the following day at 04:44:59) and use it to travel on the second journey within the same day; or $2.0 fare discount on their first journey with the card after taking their Octopus card at the concessionary fare machine. Passengers who use the card for the first trip on KMB after taking the card at the concessionary machine will also be entitled to a $2.0 fare discount. In accordance with the current PolyU campus access policy, visitors must obtain approval from the school before entering the Fare Saver location.[1]
