The Hong Kong Island Green Minibus (GMB) Route 49M is operated by Kellis Limited (Passenger Service Licence (PSL) No. 7683C). It runs circular between Tin Hau Station and Braemar Hill, passing through Tin Hau Temple Road and Cloud View Road for outbound direction and Fortress Hill Road for inbound direction, with additional detours via Kingsford Gardens during peak hours.
History[]
- 6 November 1992: The Transport Department invited opened tenders for a total of 19 green minibus (GMB) routes in a set of 12, in which this route was grouped together with Route 50. [1]
- 4 September 1993: Route 49M came into service, running between Tin Hau Station and Braemar Hill.
- 1 December 2005: Interchange concessions with MTR were introduced.
- 25 March 2021: Real-time Arrival Information System was introduced to this route. [2]Added Estimated Time of Arrival service.

The Transport Department Official Information showed that this route from Monday to Saturday 8am to 10am and 5pm to 7pm, and Sunday and Public Holiday from 9am to 11am and from 5pm to 7pm headways will detour Po Luen Path. The actual trip will detour Po Luen Path whole day.

Minibus deployments[]
According to the Transport Department's Schedule of Services , this route requires a total of 10 minibuses, 2 of which are 19-seater minibuses. The total passenger capacity in each direction during the peak hour is not less than 249.
The vehicles on this route are relatively old, and some of them do not have seat belts. Therefore, at the request of residents and district councillors, 9-seat Toyota Coaster minibuses began to be introduced to replace the original fleet since 18 July 2019 and the first one (KS5102) made its maiden trip on 18 July.
Currently this route and Hong Kong Island GMB Routes 50 Use a total of 16 TOYOTA Coaster gasing bus, include 13 of 16-seater minibuses and 3 of 19-seater minibuses. Some minibuses of this route that park in Tin Hau Station, Braemar Hill or Yiu Tung Estate.

Drug usage by driver[]
- 18 May 2010: At around 11:00am, a driver of a Toyota Coaster parked his minibus at Percival Street in Causeway Bay after withdrawn from service and doused the driver's seat with cough syrup of a controlled substance with the engine running, which was later discovered by a policewoman on patrol on a motorcycle and the driver was arrested. Traffic accidents[]
- 30 August 2012: At around 6pm, a Braemar Hill-bound Toyota Coaster collided head-on with an out-of-control taxi that crossed the lane at Cloud View Road, injuring 11 people.[13][14]
- 6 December 2012: At around 9am, two Braemar Hill-bound Toyota Coasters (MC4984 and MC9949) collided head-on at Cloud View Road, injuring 5. [15]
